S5E5: The Baby Pt. 2

1 Hour After Birth (8:00am)
[the hospital]
*Nina laid in the recovery room. The nurse brought in the baby and handed her to Nina. Nina was emotional.*

Nurse: Here she is.

Nina: Oh, hi baby.

Nurse: She's hungry.

Nina: Okay.

Nurse: We'll try breastfeeding in a moment. I'll leave you two to spend time together.

Nina: Oh, thanks.

*The nurse walked out.*

Nina: Hi, baby. So precious. I'm your mommy!

*Nina sniffled, holding back her tears.*

Nina: What are we going to name you?

*The baby fussed a little.*

Nina: Sshhh, sshhh, it's okay, sshhh.

*The baby stopped.*

Nina: See? I can do this mom thing.

*She chuckled.*

Nina: I love you so much. Although I gotta tell ya, you were pretty painful. And why does no one talk about the fact that you have to give birth to the placenta after the baby? It's an underrated discussion, in my opinion. And then they stitch you up all over. No one talks about that, either. Course, you can't understand me at all, but.

That Same Time
[the hospital]
*Nancy, Nathan, Hallie, and Jo were in the waiting room when Steven walked out. They all stood up.*

Nancy: How is she?

Steven: Good. Tired.

Nathan: Yeah.

Jo: When can we meet her?

Steven: Nina's alone with the baby right now, but I think we should let her be alone for now.

Hallie: Okay.

Steven: And then, the nurse just said they're gonna try breastfeeding.

Nancy: Oh good.

Steven: She's... perfect. She's beautiful. And she doesn't have a name.

*Nancy smiled.*

Nancy: You'll think of one.

Nathan: Any options?

Steven: We both like the idea of a name starting with a vowel. There's a lot of pretty E names. We liked Annie but now she's saying it's too childish and not pretty enough.

Nathan: I like Annie.

Jo: Me too.

Steven: Yeah, she's just... I don't know.

Hallie: And that's okay. Let's give her the time she needs.

Steven: Yeah.

*Tucker walked over to them all.*

Tucker: Hey.

Jo & Hallie: Hey!

*The girls looked at each other after awkwardly being equally as exited to see him. He walked over to Jo and kissed her forehead as he sat down. Hallie's heart sunk. What was going on? Is it really possibly that Hallie was developing feelings for Tucker? Nancy noticed not only Hallie's excitement, but also her disappoint when she saw Jo and Tucker together. Nina was still in the recovery room.*

Nina: You were supposed to have two brothers. Well, cousins. Nancy miscarried.

*Nina laughed.*

Nina: We used to laugh about you getting married. Until we realized we were having babies with brothers. Which would make you family. And thanks to you, now I'm technically family with Nancy. So, that's cool. We're all family at this point, even Jo and Hallie.
