FEBRUARY
Noon
[the plaza]
*Hallie and Jo were walking around the plaza with a cup of coffee in their hands. It was still winter, and cold out. They had nice jackets on.*
Hallie: Wow.
Jo: I know. My boyfriend. I have a boyfriend now!
*They giggled in excitement.*
Hallie: When was the last time we both had boyfriends at the same time?
Jo: It's been too long. We've only been dating like... a week but I already feel so attached. In a good way, of course. They way he holds me-
Hallie: The way they looks at us-
Jo: It's magical.
Hallie: For real. Damon has kind of a shorter temper, and for some reason it's so attractive when he yells at me as a joke.
*Jo looked at her and laughed.*
Hallie: I know, it sounds weird.
Jo: No, it doesn't. I get it.
Hallie: It's just been such an incredible one month and two weeks. And counting.
*They laughed again.*
Jo: Chris is just... different. He's a man. Not a boy. I'm done with boys.
*They walked by FreshMart, and Jo noticed Tucker in the window. She hadn't seen him since the event, a week ago. She was totally over him of course, she was dating Chris now. But for some reason her heart sank a little when she saw him. It was maybe the thought that this is how it is now. They were going to see each other through grocery store windows, and that was it. Hallie noticed Jo had stopped walking, and was staring at Tucker across the street.*
Hallie: Jo? Jo! Come on.
*Hallie saw what Jo saw.*
Hallie: Oh... no... don't focus on him, come on now.
Jo: Okay...
*When Jo looked away, Tucker looked up from his counter and saw Jo across the street walking with Hallie. His heart sank too, of course. Over by Jo and Hallie, Hallie's phone started ringing.*
Hallie: Oh, hang on, it's Damon. Hello? Uh-huh. Yeah. Really? What did the email say? Yeah. Okay, I'll come soon. Bye.
Jo: What was that?
Hallie: Damon says he had some school emergency. Something about construction, I honestly don't know but he says I should come.
Jo: Oh! Don't even worry, we'll catch up later.
Hallie: Thanks.
*Hallie walked away, but Jo walked away too. Straight to FreshMart. She had no idea what she was doing or why. She didn't necessarily want to speak to Tucker or anything, but for some reason she felt the urge to go in. So, she did. She was aimlessly browsing the aisles, when she saw her old boss, Chuck, and walked the other day. The last thing she needed was a conversation with HIM. She turned around and saw Tucker right in front of her, restocking one aisle. He was checking the expiration date on everything, and she remembered how much she hated that task. She turned around and went behind another aisle without looking where she was going. She ran into Chris.*
Jo: Oh! Sorry! Oh... Chris? Hey!
Chris: Hey, Jo. What are you doing here?
Jo: Sh... shopping.
*She picked up something random from the shelf.*
Chris: Me too.
Jo: Great let's check out.
