Night, Picking up from last episode
[a hospital waiting room]
*Nina, Steven, Nathan, Jo, Tucker, Nancy, Tom, and Hallie all sat in chairs, not speaking, bored and anxious. Caroline and Jamie were playing with blocks on the floor, while Natalie sat there with them. Nancy and Nathan sat next to each other in silence.*
Nathan: So... I was thinking if-
Nancy: Just don't talk to me right now, Nathan.
*She looked at him, and met his eyes.*
Nathan: I'm sorry, what?
Nancy: You know exactly what.
*She looked at Jo.*
Nathan: No, that's not fair. You left me.
Nancy: I did not leave you, I...
*They both stopped and saw the kids staring at them.*
Nathan: *whispering* I am my own, single, person. You don't get to blame me.
*He got up and walked away. Jo saw that he was alone, and decided to follow him. She walked around the corner and saw him at the vending machines.*
Jo: Hey.
*He looked up quickly, and smiled when he saw her.*
Nathan: Hey.
Jo: Um, so we haven't really got a chance to talk.
Nathan: That this is over?
Jo: ...yeah.
Nathan: It's okay, I kind of got the hint.
*She chuckled.*
Nathan: So are you back with him?
Jo: Yeah.
Nathan: Are you happy?
Jo: Very.
Nathan: Good.
Jo: But thank you, for being there for me and stuff.
Nathan: I'm glad I could help. You helped me, too.
Jo: Good, good.
Nathan: I never meant for it to get that far, or to go on that long.
Jo: No, me neither. I, um, I just hope it didn't affect our friendship or anything, because-
Nathan: No! No, never.
Jo: Because you're like my best friend.
Nathan: You're mine. But that's it.
Jo: Exactly. That's all. Just two best friends.
*They slowly walked towards each other and hugged. The hug lasted, they didn't want to let go just yet.*
Nathan: So Nancy's pretty pissed.
Jo: Yeah. Kinda saw that one coming.
Nathan: Yep.
*They let go of the hug and walked back together. Nancy and Tucker both eyed them walking in. Tom walked out of the bathroom, and it alerted Jo. She walked over to him. Their fingers subtly intertwined by their sides.*
Jo: Hey.
Tom: I think I might take off.
Jo: Okay. Thanks for coming.
Tom: Oh, of course.
*She took out her keys, and gave him the key to her apartment.*
Jo: I'll see you at home.
Tom: See you at home. And listen, I'm really glad I came back.
Jo: Me too.
*They smiled so wide at each other.*
