The Morning After the Wedding
[the venue]
*The wedding venue had rooms where the bridal party stayed the night. Now, although the wedding hadn't gone as planned, Nathan, Nancy, Hallie, Jo, Nina, and Steven stayed the night. They were all sitting on a couch talking, except for Nina and Steven.*
Nancy: Well. That was...
Jo: Insane.
Hallie: Yup.
Nathan: More coffee, anyone?
Jo: Please.
*Nathan poured coffee into Jo's mug.*
Nancy: Does anyone know where they went?
*Nobody had seen Steven or Nina since he walked out on Blake at the wedding.*
Hallie: No.
Nancy: Should we... do something?
Nathan: I'll call Steven.
*After a few seconds, they all heard ringing from the bedroom door right behind them. Their heads turned. Nina walked out in messy hair and just a t-shirt... Steven's t-shirt. Nancy's eyebrows raised and Nathan's mouth fell open. Jo's heart dropped and Hallie smiled out of shock. Nina leaned against the closed door behind her, smiled, then walked right past them all to go down the stairs.*
Nancy: Well...
Hallie: I guess that's where they went.
Nathan: Each other.
Jo: He's in there too.
*Nancy got up and walked in the bedroom. She shut the door when she saw Steven laying in bed. She walked over to him and laid down next to him.*
Nancy: Hey.
Steven: Hi.
*It was silent for a few seconds.*
Nancy: What are you thinking?
Steven: I'm thinking... I'm thinking how in about 10 minutes, I have to walk out of here and explain everything to everyone.
*Nancy nodded, trying to be a good friend.*
Steven: But I'm also thinking how happy I am.
*He looked at her and smiled so big.*
Steven: I had sex with Nina.
*Nancy let out a loud chuckle.*
Nancy: I gathered.
Steven: Are you mad at me?
Nancy: No.
Steven: I hurt and embarrassed your friend. You loved us together.
Nancy: That's true. But I love you more. And if you're not happy, nothing else matters to me.
Steven: Thanks, Nance.
Nancy: Besides, you two were doomed from the start.
*He laughed.*
Steven: I did love her.
Nancy: Until when?
Steven: I don't know. But I know I realized I was in love with Nina more after the rehearsal dinner. I came to her house to yell at her but instead she told me she loved me. I was more mad I loved her back, than I was at what she actually did.
Nancy: Steven I just want you to be happy. I'll talk to Blake, see how she's doing.
Steven: I'm sure awful.
Nancy: It would be weirder if she wasn't doing awful.
Steven: I guess. What about the public?
Nancy: I'll talk to her about arranging some kind of deal, or something. So she won't tell anyone the truth.
