S8E14: January 2nd

Morning
[the hospital]
*It was the morning of January 1st, the new year had begun. Nina, Steven, Nancy, Nathan, Hallie, and Tom were all in the waiting room. Drew walked out of the elevator, surprised to see them. He walked over.*

Drew: I need to cleanse you guys in sage and bring you a million four leaf clovers for better luck. Why are you here now?

*It seemed like everyone spent more time in the hospital lately than in their own homes.*

Hallie: Jo collapsed last night. When we called an ambulance they took her here.

Drew: Did you guys like... go on a murder spree across ancient civilizations in a past life or something?

Nina: Something like that.

Hallie: Which one of you forgot to each twelve grapes at midnight?

Steven: No one ate twelve grapes at midnight.

Hallie: Well then it all makes sense now.

Drew: You know, for someone who's best friend is in the hospital under unknown circumstances, you don't seem worried.

Hallie: I'll worry when I know what to worry about. Feels like this hospital is my second home now.

Nina: Besides, the panicker of the group is fast asleep.

*Everyone turned to Nancy, who was fast asleep laying on the couch... in Nathan's arms, who was also fast asleep. They spooned each other, exhausted from being here all night.*

Drew: Ah.

Nina: But they're 'just friends,' sure.

Tom: Uh, I'm worried.

Nina: And we love you for it.

Steven: We must be getting old. Our bodies are breaking down.

Nina: I feel bad for Kristina, she's had the kids all night.

Steven: Want me to go pick them up?

Nina: I can. I'll call her.

*Nina got up and walked away, on the phone with Kristina. The doctor came up to them. Tom stood up.*

Tom: How is she?

Doctor: She's steady. We won't know anything for a while, you guys should go home. I'll reach out to you when I have more information.

*Everyone started to get up, so Nancy and Nathan woke up. She looked at him, a little embarrassed, but also happy to have been in his arms.*

Nancy: Hi.

Nathan: Hey.

Nina: Good morning love birds! Time to go.

*Nina spoke loudly, interrupting their moment. Everyone started to head out.*

Tom: You guys go ahead. I'll stay.

Doctor: She won't be up for a while, if-

Tom: I won't leave her. Can I go up?

Doctor: Yeah.

*While the others left, Tom went up to Jo's room to see her. She was asleep on the bed. He sat down next to her and held her hand.*

Later
[Nancy's house]
*Nathan came through the door with Natalie, because he had spent the evening with her. Nancy ran to hug her.*

Nancy: Hi baby! How was she?

Nathan: Good.

Nancy: Good.

*As Nancy stood back up, she noticed how close Nathan was standing, and he didn't move.*
