DECEMBER
Midday
[the plaza]
*Nancy and Nina sat down at the plaza with ice cream, mid conversation.*
Nancy: And then I just... woke up.
Nina: Wow. What does this mean?
Nancy: I don't know.
Nina: I mean, do you have any feelings for him now?
Nancy: I don't know. I know I feel something. But is it current feelings, or just old memories of our love?
Nina: That's something only you can answer.
Nancy: Please, just promise me you won't tell anyone!
Nina: I promise.
*Jo walked up.*
Jo: Hey guys!
Nina: Nancy likes Joey!
Nancy: Nina!
Nina: I'm sorry I couldn't hold it in any longer!
Jo: What! You like Joey?!
Nancy: No no no! I don't like Joey, okay?! I had a dream that we were... kissing, and then... you know.
Jo: Naughty!
Nancy: Sshhh! But it meant nothing. Just don't tell anyone. And please please please, whatever you do, don't let it get to Nathan.
Jo: On my life.
*They sat there in silence. Jo looked uncomfortable.*
Nancy: What's going on, Jo?
Jo: I need money!
Nancy: Huh?
Jo: I need money. I haven't gotten a brand deal in weeks and I'm falling short!
Nancy: Oh, well don't worry! Here I'll write you a check!
Jo: No! I can't borrow money from friends. Because then I'll have it hanging over my head for months that I owe you money.
Nancy: Okay...
Jo: I'm sorry I'm just- really stressed out.
Nina: Well, I'm sure we can help you find ways to make money.
Nancy: Yeah!
Jo: No! I've already emailed like every company in the world- they all said no.
Nancy: Seriously?!
Jo: Yup.
*They all sat there in silence, thinking. Suddenly, Nina had a lightbulb.*
Nina: *gasp* You could get a job!
Jo: A job?
Nancy: Ooh, yeah! That's a great idea!
Jo: But what if people see me working and word gets out that I'm broke!
Nancy: Get a job somewhere that people can't see you!
Nina: Yeah! Like an office.
Jo: Don't you have to work you way up to that?
Nancy: *clueless about jobs* No! You'll be fine.
Jo: I don't have a resume, or any experience at all. How am I going to get hired somewhere?!
*None of them have ever had a real job before.*
Nina: You'll get one, it can't be that hard.
Nancy: Yeah.
A Few Days Later
[a grocery store]
*Well, looks like getting a job wasn't that easy! The only place she was barely even qualified for, was a grocery store clerk at a place called FreshMart. She wore an ugly forest green apron as a manager quickly and effortlessly took her through training. She followed the tired manger up to the register.*
