He doesn't know what day it is, can't think, can't remember.
Seems like it's been a while but who knows, really?
Not him.
Certainly not.
Physically he might have been present when the others were making their plans, but mentally...
Somewhere else entirely.
The things they want, the troubles they voice, they seem like they belong an entirely different universe than he does.
And maybe that doesn't make that much sense, but somehow it does.
Whatever the end goal is, though, it seems impossibly far away.
The world is spinning around him, or maybe that's just him.
It feels like he can barely breathe so that's what he focuses on.
Breathing.
Surviving.
Everything blurs together-
And then....
Pain.
The still healing, still red mark on his hand seems to burn.
He lets out a gasp despite himself-he doesn't want the others to worry about him.
But they hear it anyway. Of course.
"What's wrong?" Jenna asks.
Tyler just shakes his head.
He doesn't want anyone to worry about him.
"Can you just tell us?" Josh asks. "Please? You can trust us, I promise..."
I promise...
Those words echo around his head for a moment, and he finally just says, "Okay."
And he looks at the scar, but-
There's nothing there anymore.
"I don't believe it," Tyler says. "I-"
"Well, we're slowly leaving the city behind," Josh says, "So maybe...maybe everything that happened there, it's slowly fixing itself...that's the only explanation I can think of."
"Well, I'm not complaining," Tyler says, "That-all of it, it was lies..."
"I know," Jenna says gently. "We know."
"I hope," Tyler says, "That someday all the lies they've forced on so many people will be answered on their own heads. It's not right, any of it...look what they convinced me to do."
He feels a tear beginning to form in his eye, and quickly wipes it away.
For a moment it seems as though someone is whispering to him, it will be okay.
A nagging suspicion still plagues him, though...
He wonders if the other scars have faded or not.
He's honestly too afraid to check, though.
He tries to push it out of his mind.
But even if it takes years for the marks of what he did to fade, it will work out.
Somehow he's filled with a sense of peace.
He fingers the badage on his arm, the very same one the red figure of his nightmares tied there, once, too long ago...
And he leaves it exactly where it is.
Instead he looks around.
I'm alive right now, he thinks, honestly, that's enough of a miracle for me, for now.
And it is.
:). happy tyler is good tyler. that is all i have for you, for now. |-/ stay alive you lovelies.
