How much time has passed?
She doesn't know.
But it feels like too much.
She might already-no, don't think that, don't think that...
Be too late.
No.
Something inside of her seems to tell her, no.
It's not too late, not yet.
Believe it, that voice says.
Believe it.
She doesn't know where it comes from, but it feels like a part of her.
Maybe it's some kind of nearly-buried instinct.
Whatever the case, it seems to tell her to hold on.
To wait.
They won't see her if she keeps herself hidden for a while longer.
So she does.
Barely daring to breathe, barely daring to move, she stays there, hiding, unseen, in that dark cave.
They're going to need your help, something tells her.
And she knows it.
She knows she isn't far from that city-she could only run so far.
And although her mental state isn't ideal, all she feels is fear.
Nothing else.
It's trying to be overwhelming, but so far it isn't succeeding.
And honestly, she knows she can't complain about that.
Yes, the fact remains: she's not immune to the terrible, terrible spell the city casts on everyone, everything it can.
But she isn't affected so deeply by it that she can't even function.
That's why they didn't bother coming after her.
They didn't see it being worth the effort, because they didn't think they'd be able to affect her on such an emotional level.
They have other targets.
That makes her want to get up, to run, to help-
Wait, something tells her. Wait.
So she does, though it feels like it's going to kill her.
She thinks about everyone they left behind, in the banditø camp, too far away to be more than a distant memory.
Don't think about that try not to worry...
But she is.
Wait...something seems to tell her again.
She wants to scream.
This uncertainty is driving her insane.
Try to hold on a little longer.
Fine.
She doesn't even question the voice she thinks she hears.
Enough crazy, unbelievable things have happened to her lately.
Strange voices in her head? Why not?
Besides, it doesn't feel all that strange...
Before she can give it a second thought, something tells her, Come on! You've waited long enough.
But something about it is different.
She doesn't trust it.
Don't, then. Just. Wait...
So she does.
Just a little longer...
And then-
She feels something abrupt that she can't explain.
But she knows she needs to get out of here, so she does.
Out in the open, she feels exposed.
But it's necessary.
That she knows.
She feels a strange pressure she can't explain.
She doesn't know why, but she quickly turns around.
"T-Tyler?" she asks suddenly.
He's alive.
That honestly seems like a miracle.
He looks terrible, and scared, but he's alive.
Yeah. I-I'm alive.
She doesn't even question how she doesn't see his lips moving but hears his voice in her head.
Just feels an insane amount of relief.
She looks at him cautiously.
Can I give you a hug?
He nods.
So she does.
And then she realizes.
Where's Josh?
*gasp* I don't know, where is Josh? I actually don't know...Shh, you didn't here me say that, I'm the author, I know everything....totally.
