"You do know that if you needed anything, anything at all, you could have just let us know?" someone asks her.

"No," she says. "I mean-yes...but. But I would never have asked you for help. Even if I needed it."

"Why not?" they ask, sighing.

And it occurs to her, they're probably as tired as she is.

Whoever they are-

Why can't she think right?

She knows they are familiar to her.

Knows it.

But words escape her-again.

"Because..."

A response begins to form on her lips, begins to form and then fades away.

"I don't know..."

"Do you not trust me?" they ask.

"I think I do," she says. "I think. I know I at least did once. But now I'm not sure."

"That's okay," they say, "You let me know. You let me know if you need anything, okay? And I'll try to help you out. I will. I mean it."

"Wait..." she tries to say as they start walking away.

What is she even trying to say? Thank you for talking, I'm glad we had this conversation, but it's not going to solve much of anything?

Oh...

She doesn't know.

It did help her some, but not enough.

Because it ended.

And her thoughts didn't.

And it doesn't matter because she's still fighting against them.
