Where-where am I?
She's so disoriented, lost...
What happened to her?
She tries searching her memories for a clue but...nothing.
Nothing helpful.
She manages to sit up.
Why is the simple task of breathing this much of a challenge?
Why is her mind spinning so?
She looks around, trying to puzzle out where she is.
Green, yellow, yellow, green.
That's familiar and reassuring enough that her worries are calmed, at least for a little bit...
Until she sees the imposing gray structure, no longer in the distance, but almost directly in front of her.
No.
Wait-
If she's out here, does that mean someone else is inside?
She swallows.
Wait.
Yes.
That is what happened.
No...
No, wait.
She realizes who was seperated from her and feels a terrible, terrible chill.
Oh, no...
She can't just leave them, leave them to...
A sense of urgency grips her.
She manages to get to her feet.
It's no use, something seems to whisper to her.
For the time being, she ignores it.
But then-
She hesitates.
She remembers.
She doesn't know why but-
She can't get in.
In some other circumstances that would seem like a blessing.
Not now.
What do I do? she wonders. Can I do anything?
No, a voice seems to tell her, no you can't.
What?
That's right.
You came all this way to try to help him out, did you?
Well.
You only lost another close to you.
So go.
Turn back around and leave because they are mine now.
I must be going crazy, Jenna thinks.
She stares at the ominous structure looming above her.
Maybe she does need to get far, far away from this place-
A sudden movement startles her.
Someone's watching me, she thinks, but she doesn't know how she knows or why that thought occurs to her, only that it does.
And that it sends a shiver up her spine.
"You're a long way from home," a voice says suddenly.
Jenna turns toward the noise, alarmed.
"Don't be scared," someone tells her. "You've been here before...but you don't have as strong emotional ties to this place. Don't worry, though, I can fix that."
Run, something inside her screams.
She knows instinctively that if she stays she won't be able to.
So she does run, as far away as she can until she can't take another step.
No one's chasing her.
That's a surprise.
But now...
Now they know about her.
They'll know what she was trying to do.
She can't exactly leave now, though.
No.
But what...
Fear grips her suddenly.
What can she do?
Anything?
Yes. I have to. They need me.
She swallows.
Yes.
They do.
She knows that, but what she doesn't know is if that will be enough for her to beat the darkness.
She sighs.
I have to try.
No matter what it takes.
I gotta say, I kinda liked writing these few chapters from Jenna's POV was kind of fun. You get to see another perspective. A kind of less sad one, too.
