Tyler takes a step forward, towards the red-cloaked figure, even though everything inside of him is screaming at him to run away from the bishop, his enemy.
"You don't control me!" He says it as loud as he can, balling his hands into fists so they'll stop shaking.
The bishop chuckles softly. "Oh, but I do, my child. I do."
"NO!" Tyler yells. "You don't control me. You are a part of me, a part I can't get rid of. But I can fight you. I will!"
"You can try to fight me," Nico says, taking a step closer to Tyler. "But you won't do that, will you? Deep down you must realize I know what's best for you."
"You wanted me to die," Tyler says, remembering with disgust how the bishop had stood behind him, urging him that death was the right thing, trying to convince him to take his own life.
"I was doing you a favor," the bishop says. "You've seen what stubbornly clinging to life did to you. Only more suffering and pain."
"But dying meant giving up! It meant letting go of all the negative things in life-letting go of everything!" Tyler realizes he's starting to scream, and that's the only indicator of how upset he really feels.
"And you really think anyone would care if you let go and slipped away?" Nico asks. "You-"
"Stop it!" Tyler interjects. "Stop trying to convince me no one cares. That's not true, and I know it. I know it. You try to teach your subjects they are alone in this world, but that's where you're wrong. I know I'm not alone in this."
He narrows his eyes. "And do you know how I managed to figure that out, Nicholas? I stopped listening to you."
"I can't believe this," Nico says. "After all I did for you-"
"You did nothing for me!" Tyler shouts. "All you ever did was try to control me! Control me and brainwash me!"
"It was-" the bishop tries to interrupt him.
"NO!" Tyler can't believe he's hearing this. "How can you say that it was for my own good? How can you still believe that twisted lie? If I had followed through with what you wanted, I would be dead right now!"
"You would be dead," Nico concedes, "But you would be free. Free of worry, free of pain."
"How did I not realize this before? How?" He asks angrily.
"Realize what exactly?" Nico asks, and Tyler breathes in sharply.
Does he dare...
"You're not on my side. You never were."
"Of course I'm not," Nico says.
He doesn't say anything else, just is there.
And it's too much.
The imprints of the red figure are still in his mind when his eyes fly open.
Just a dream, but...not.
"You okay?" Jenna whispers into the darkness.
He doesn't say anything-how can he even try to put into words what he's thinking?
It doesn't matter, though, because in a moment he finds himself drifting off to sleep.
And dreaming for the third time he can remember, but when he finally wakes again, he can't remember what it was.
But of course by then, he has other problems to deal with.
:(. Sads. That's all I got. Sads. Keep reading though please!
