"Something doesn't feel right..." she murmurs.
Uneasy, she glances over at Josh.
"Do you feel that?"
"What?" he asks.
Her frown deepens.
He's been acting so distracted lately...it's unnerving.
She can hardly blame him, not when she's found herself consumed with worry and anxiety as well.
But there almost seems to be something else occupying his mind.
Jenna shakes her head.
"Josh," she says, "Something's not right here."
He looks at her. "What do you mean? Everything feels fine to me."
"I-" she shakes her head. "I don't know how to describe it, but I think we need to turn back."
"But-"
"How can you not feel it?" Jenna asks suddenly, stopping.
She feels it even stronger now.
She doesn't belong here.
That's what it's telling her.
How does she understand it?
What is telling this to her?
"No," Josh says. "We don't need to turn back. This is exactly where we're supposed to be."
Something about the way he said it makes Jenna look at him strangely.
"No," she says. "This isn't where we're supposed to be. We're supposed to be safe, away from here. All of us."
"We are safe, aren't we?" Josh asks.
He keeps walking.
Jenna rubs her eyes.
The yellow colors of his outfit seem weirdly muted, and she doesn't know why.
Must be a trick of the light.
She looks down.
Red.
Wait.
The yellow scarf seems to have turned a bloodred hue.
She barely holds in a gasp.
How?
"Josh-" she says, "Josh."
He doesn't respond.
Her heart racing, she reaches for his arm, knows she has to pull him back.
Now.
But her fingers don't seem to be working.
Move, she forces them.
But something happens.
She can't explain it, but its almost like an invisible force shooting through her, pushing her backwards.
Right after she tries to pull him back.
"You don't belong," Josh says, in a voice that sounds nothing like his usual voice, which scares her scares her. "You must stay out."
"No-wait-" she tries to say.
Tries to protest.
She knows him, after all.
Trusts him.
"Josh!" she tries to scream, right as she finds herself slipping away, away, away...
But she finds herself with nothing to hold onto.
Soon she fades fully away into the darkness.
Alone, out here, while those she wishes she could protect are either far, far away, or somewhere she can't reach at all.
*gasps in author* what now??
