The four friends were walking up the stairs and Harry and Ron were talking about quidditch while Hermione and Carson were talking.
"I tell you it's spooky. She knows more about you than you do." Ron said, still not completely warmed up to Hermione.
"who doesn't?" Was Harry's response.
Suddenly, the stairs started to move. The three boys grabbed onto the handrails, while Hermione grabbed Carson's free arm. They both went red at the contact, but neither noticed.
"What's happening?" Harry asked frightened.
"The stairs move remember?" Hermione said, slightly scared she was going to fall off.
"Lets go this way." Harry said, the rest of the group following. Hermione was hesitant, but gave in.
The group went down the corridor and in Carson's opinion, it looked very spooky. The four ran down the corridor, only to be met with a cat who had glowing red eyes. It was Mr. Filches cat.
Carson had been told all about Mr. Filch by his parents. They had told him all about how mean he was to students. Carson was a bit afraid of him.
"It's Mr. Filches cat! Run!" Carson said, the group dashing away to find a classroom, and seeing a door.
Carson ran to the door and tried to open it, but to no avail. The boys all shared a scared look, while Hermione had a knowing one.
"It's locked!" Carson said, a scared expression on his face.
"We're done for!" Ron said, groaning as he did so.
"Oh, move over! Alohomora!" Hermione said, pushing the boys out of the way and unlocking the door. The door unlocked, and they opened it.
"Where'd you learn that?" Harry asked.
"Standard book of spells chapter seven! Now get in!" Hermione said, pushing them into the room and closing the door.
The four went into the room and all let out a relieved sigh.
"That was close...you really do know everything 'Mione." Carson said.
Hermione smiled brightly at the boy and he returned the smile. They both were lost in their own world for a bit before Harry and Ron's scream brought them out of it.
"AHHHH!" Harry and Ron shouted, as Carson and Hermione turned to see a three headed dog.
The two burst out the room, running back to the Gryffindor common room. Carson grabbed Hermione's hand and they both ran out the door, not letting go of each other's hands until they got back to the common room.
"What do you think they're doing?! Keeping something locked up like that in the school?!" Ron said, breathless from all that running.
"Didn't you see what was under it? It was standing on a trapdoor. It's guarding something." Carson said, getting straight to the point.
"Carson's right. Now, I will be going to bed before you all come up with a clever idea to get us killed! Or worse, expelled!" Hermione said, glaring at Harry and Ron. "Goodnight Carson!" She said, before going to her dorm. He waved to her as she left.
"She needs to sort out her priorities. Mental that one." Ron said, earning a smack on the head by Carson. They went up to their dorm for the night, the next day awaiting.
