"She's done it again! Miss Granger, a plain but ambitious witch has taken the hearts of many boys, her newest prey being Carson Marshall, the fourth Triwizard champion. No word on how Harry Potter is taking this emotional blow." Hermione read the article angrily, as Harry shook his head.
"Sorry Hermione. But I'm not taking an emotional blow, you and Carson are practically made for each other. I'm not getting involved."
"Yeah, you have your eyes on Cho." Carson said, taking another bite of his breakfast as he did so.
As the four friends talked, a first-year boy came up with a package for Ron. "Parcel for you, Mr. Weasley."
"Thanks Nigel." Ron said, opening the package, as Nigel stayed. "Not now Nigel, later." Ron whispered, as Nigel walked away.
"I told him I would get him Carson and Harry's autographs." Ron said, answering the question they all had.
"Hey look. Mum's sent me something." Ron said, opening the parcel. "Mum's sent me a dress...Ginny these must be for you."
"I'm not wearing that, it's ghastly."
"It does match your eyes, is there a bonnet?" Harry joked, as he looked at the dress.
Hermione was sat next to Carson, trying to stifle a laugh. "Those are for you. They're dress robes." Hermione explained, as Ron looked confused, "Dress robes? For what?"
"The Yule ball." Professor McGonagall stated, as all the Gryffindors were back in the great hall, boys on one side, girls on the other. "To dance is to let the body breathe. Inside every girl, a secret swan slumbers, longing to burst free and take flight. In every boy, a lordly lion, prepare to prance."
"Something may be about to burst out of Eloise Midgeon, but I don't think it's a swan." Ron whispered to Carson and Harry, as they both stifled a laugh.
"Mr. Weasley!" Professor McGonagall yelled, getting Ron's attention back to her.
"Yes?"
"Would you join me please?" She commanded, as Ron got up nervously.
"Now then if you will. Put your hand on my waist." She commanded again, Ron doing a spit take.
"Where?"
"My waist, Mr. Weasley. That's right, extend your arm, now if you will Mr. Filch." McGonagall asked, as Filch turned on the music. Ron and Professor McGonagall danced, as Fred and George laughed at him.
"Never let him forget this." Carson whispered to the twins.
"Never." They both said, in sync.
"Everyone come together!" McGonagall said, as Carson and Hermione made their way to each other.
"May I have this dance?" Carson asked, extending his hand out to Hermione.
"You shall." Hermione said, taking his hand as they got into position.
"Well, would you care to attend the ball with me as my date? There's nobody else I'd rather go with." Carson asked Hermione, as she beamed at him.
"I would love to. There's nobody else I would go with Carson."
The dance session ended, as they all sat down for lunch. "Why do they always have to travel in packs? How are you supposed to corner one of them to ask them?" Harry complained, as Ron nodded.
"Blimey Harry you've slayed a dragon, you can get anyone." Ron voiced out his opinion, as Harry nodded.
"Just go ask Cho." Carson said, motioning over to the Ravenclaw table.
As time passed, they both had missed their chances on who they wanted to go with. They both ended up getting Padma and Parvati Patil to go with them.
Soon enough, it was the day of the ball. And Carson was ready for it to be the best night of the whole year.
