The four disapparated onto a busy street in London, right as a bus came driving by. They quickly backed into the sidewalk just before they could get hit.
"Where are we?" Ron asked, catching his breath.
"Shaftesbury Avenue. I used to come here to the theater with my mum and dad. Just popped into my head. I don't know why..." Hermione explained as they walked down the street, Carson holding Hermione's hand and rubbing her knuckles with his thumb for comfort.
"This way!" Hermione whispered, turning into an alley. As they turned, Hermione opened her beaded purse and started rummaging through things.
"We need to change." Hermione stated, pulling out clothes from her small bag.
"How the hell...?" Ron asked bewildered.
"Undetectable Extension Charm." Hermione told them.
"You're amazing, you are my love." Carson muttered.
"Always the tone of surprise." Hermione whispered.
As she gave the bag a shake, there was a loud echo of objects falling. They all turn to her and she whispers, "That'll be the books."
As they changed and left the alley, they wandered into a cafe that was empty. They slide into an empty booth and Carson pulls Hermione in close to him.
"Do you reckon everyone's alright at the wedding? Maybe we should.." Harry started, Ron interrupting.
"They were after you, mate. We'd just put everyone in danger going back." Ron explained, as Hermione and Carson nodded.
"Rons right. One cappuccino please." Hermione told the waitress.
"What she said." Carson told the waitress, with Ron and Harry ordering the same thing.
"So where do we go from here? The Leaky Cauldron?" Ron asked.
"Too dangerous. If Voldemort's taken over the Ministry, none of the old places are safe."
Two workmen entered the cafe and sat at the counter as the quartet was talking. Nobody paid them any mind though.
"My rucksack. With all my things. I left it back at the Burrow..." Harry mentioned, as Hermione shook her head.
"You're joking."
"I've had the essentials packed for days. Just in case." Hermione explained, as Harry smiled.
"By the way...these jeans? Not my favorite. Bit tight." Ron stated, as Carson rolled his eyes.
"Be glad you got jeans. I'm wearing my pajama pants." Carson muttered, as he was in fact wearing his black sweatpants.
Out of the corner of his eye, Harry noticed the two workmen pull out wands.
"DOWN!"
The four duck down as the workmen fire spells at them, turning out to be death eaters in disguise and not workmen.
"Stupefy!" Carson shouted, popping back up quickly. He didn't notice Hermione holding her hand over her stomach once again. A jet of green light singes Hermione's hair, as Harry fires a spell, knocking one of them back into the counter.
"Petrificus totalus!" Hermione shouted, petrifying the death eaters and the waitress walked back out with coffee in her hands.
"Go." Hermione told her, and she didn't hesitate to leave.
"Lock the door, get the lights." Harry commanded. Ron turned off the lights and Carson locked the door.
"This one's name is Rowle. He was on the Astronomy Tower the night Snape killed Dumbledore." Harry explained.
"This is Dolohov. I recognize him from the wanted posters." Carson muttered, turning him over with his foot.
"So what do we do with you, huh? Kill us if it was turned round, wouldn't you?" Ron asked, as Hermione gave him an uneasy look. "Suppose it's him that did Mad-Eye. How would you feel then?"
"It's better we wipe their memories. We kill them, they'll know we were here." Harry explained, as they both turned to Hermione.
"You're the boss. Hermione? You're the best with spells." Ron commented. Before Hermione could do it, Carson stepped in.
"I'll do it. Hermione's probably tired." Carson said and before anyone had the chance to object he muttered, "Obliviate."
The quartet exited the cafe and walked down the street.
"How is it they knew we were there?" Carson asked the group.
"Maybe you still have the Trace on you."
"Not possible Hermione. The trace breaks at seventeen. It's wizarding law."
Hermione suddenly stops, and Carson stops with her, not knowing why but continuing to stay with her.
"What?" Both boys asked, as Hermione exclaimed, "We didn't celebrate your birthday, Harry. Ginny and I, prepared a cake. We were going to bring it out at the end of the wedding..."
"My love, that sounds amazing but given the fact we've just nearly been killed by death eaters, now's not the best time."
"What he said."
"Right. Perspective."
"We need to get off the streets. Somewhere safe."
"What about Marshall Manor? Mum's not there. We'd be alone."
"I have an idea. Sorry Carson, but death eaters know you live there. It's not safe." Harry apologized, as Carson nodded in agreement.
