As the night went by, everything was peaceful. Carson fell asleep in no time, no nightmares from the past few years haunting him. He hadn't told anyone about them, but they were there. He had gotten some dreamless sleep potion from Madam Pomfrey, but he didn't want to be a bother and ask for more once he ran out.
As the boys were sleeping, they all failed to hear the dormitory door open and someone walk in, looking for something, or someone. The floor creaked on a spot where the person stepped, and Carson woke up, only to see Sirius Black in front of him.
Carson screamed, and everything was a blur. Suddenly, he was hovering over Carson, and then Black was gone, leaving his knife in Carson's leg. His screaming had awoken Harry and Ron, and all three of them had ran into the common room to see other crowded around. It seems that Carson's scream didn't wake up just Harry and Ron.
"Black! In the dormitory! With a knife! Stabbed Carson!" Ron spat out, barely formulating a sentence.
"That's preposterous, Weasley. How could Sirius Black possibly have got through the portrait hole?" Professor McGonagall asked Ron, obviously not seeing Carson with a knife in his leg.
"I don't know how he got in! I was a bit busy dodging his knife! But have you looked at Carson?! That's proof enough!" Ron said, motioning his hands to the boy.
"Oh, dear lord! Mr. Marshall! Someone quickly escort Mr. Marshall to the hospital wing!" Professor McGonagall shouted, as Hermione exited her dorm.
"What is all the noise?" She asked, rubbing her eyes, and then noticing her boyfriend's state.
"Carson! Oh my god! Your leg! We need to get you to the hospital wing!" Hermione said, taking the boy away from the common room but being stopped by Ron.
"And this bloody cat ate my rat!" Ron accused, once he saw Crookshanks.
"That's a lie!" Hermione defended.
"It is not, and you bloody well know it!"
"Silence!" Professor McGonagall shouted, causing everyone to be quiet.
"Sir Cadogan. Is it possible that you let a mysterious man enter Gryffindor Tower tonight?" Professor McGonagall asked the knight.
"Certainly, good lady! He had the password. Had the whole week's, in fact. On a little piece of paper." The knight replied, as Professor McGonagall went white.
"Which abysmally foolish person wrote down the passwords and then proceeded to lose them!" Professor McGonagall shouted, everyone looked at Neville.
"Is it always going to be you, Longbottom?" The professor asked, tired of this. Neville meekly nodded.
"While we know Sirius Black is gone tonight, I think you can safely assume he will, at some future time, attempt to return. Let me be clear. You are not to move about the castle alone. And you are not to write down the password! Understood!" Professor McGonagall demanded, everyone nodding their heads.
"Very well then. Go to bed." McGonagall said, sending the students off.
"But Professor! Carson's leg! He needs to go to the hospital wing!"
"Miss Granger please escort him there with me!" Professor McGonagall shouted, as Hermione, Carson, and Professor McGonagall exited the common room.
"What happened?!" Hermione demanded, giving Carson her famous glare.
"Black got into the dormitory. I woke up and then suddenly there was a knife in my leg."
"Mr. Marshall, I feel I must tell you that Sirius Black is indeed, looking for you. I cannot tell you why, but he wants you. Not to murder you, but just want's you. I suggest you stay close to Miss Granger and not to get into trouble." Professor McGonagall explained to the boy, not aware he already knew.
They arrived at the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey sending everyone except Carson out of the wing and getting to work.
