Carson and Harry made their way to the quidditch pitch, seeing it as a giant maze. Carson kept his necklace on, as Hermione insisted. They made their way down and met up with Viktor, Cedric, and Fleur.
"Ready for this Har? This is it. The last task. We're done after this."
"Yeah. I can't wait."
"Me too. I just want to spend a quiet year with Hermione."
"You really love her don't you?"
"Of course, she's the best. She's kind, caring, sweet, smart, and she gives the best hugs."
"I can confirm that. I've gotten a Hermione hug."
"Attention everyone!" Dumbledore called, the crowd awaiting what Dumbledore had to say. "Earlier this evening, Professor Moody places the Triwizard cup in the middle of the maze. The champions task is simply to retrieve it. Whoever touches it first is the official Triwizard tournament champion. Good luck to you all. Champions prepare yourselves, in three, two, one."
Carson sent Hermione a light, as he and Harry made their way in, searching for the cup. Carson and Harry decided to stick together and see if they could split the win if they found it. As they stuck together, they heard a scream.
"Fleur. We have to help her!" Harry shouted, Carson agreeing. They ran in the direction of the scream to see Fleur on the ground. They send up sparks for Fleur to be rescues, as she thanks the boys.
"Thank you! For saving me! I will forever remember this!"
"No problem Fleur. Good luck getting back out. We will see you later." Carson said, as him and Harry ran off. The next thing they encountered, was Krum and Cedric.
"He's imerioused!" Carson shouted, seeing Viktor's vacant eyes. The two helped Cedric, as they fired spells at Viktor. Both Viktor and Cedric were passed out. They sent sparks up once again.
"It's just us now. A Hogwarts win for sure." Carson said, smiling. He was glad this tournament was almost over.
"Look! The cup!" Harry said, as they ran to it. They arrived, and both went for the cup.
"Wait. You take it." Carson said, stepping back.
"No, you take it. I don't want it."
"I don't want it either. You take it. You deserve it Harry. You should take it."
"How about this? We both take it."
"Deal."
They both put their hand on the cup, and the familiar feeling of going on a portkey was present. They fell back into a dark area, as they got up and looked around.
"Where do you think we are? The cup was a portkey. Is this a part of the task you suppose?"
"Carson, get back to the cup! This place is from my nightmares!" Harry shouted, remembering this place from his nightmares, and knowing what was bound to happen if he stayed.
"No! Are you mental?! I'll stay with you! It's what friends do! Nightmares or not I'm fighting with you!"
As they argued, they heard someone coming. Carson held up his wand protectively.
"Who are you?! What do you want?!" He said, holding up the wand threateningly.
"Kill the spare!"
"NO! CARSON!"
As the spell hit Carson, he clutched his necklace, sending a light to Hermione. Even in his last dying moments, his last thought was Hermione Jean Granger.
