Carson woke up on Christmas morning, with Hermione next to him. They had spent the night together in her dorm, since her dormmates had gone home for Christmas, because they couldn't attend the yule ball. "Merry Christmas 'Mione." Carson whispered, as Hermione stirred awake in his chest.

"Merry Christmas love." Hermione whispered, moving her head from its spot on his chest as they shared a kiss. "Let me go get your present. I think you'll like it." Carson said, leaving the room and going to his dorm to grab it, as Hermione got her gift for him.

Carson came back with a medium sized box, as Hermione had a slim box out. "Here. Open it!" Carson instructed, shoving the box into Hermione's hands. She opened the box to see 'Hogwarts A History' but the cover was signed.

"Carson! I can't! How did you get this?"

"I had mum pull a few strings, she knows some people." Carson shrugged, as Hermione pulled him into a hug. "Here! Open mine." Hermione whispered, handing him the box. Carson opened it, to see a silver watch inside. "Woah...this is cool." Carson muttered, observing the watch, and slipping it on. "I'm glad you like it. I love you Carson."

"Love you too 'Mione."

Then, Hermione kicked him out because she needed to get her dress ready, and he wasn't allowed to see it yet. Carson went back to his dorm and celebrated with the boys.

Over the course of the day, everyone was outside building snowmen or having snowball fights. The girls went in early, saying they needed to get ready for the ball.

About two hours after the girls go in, the boys made their way inside. Carson took out the dress robes his mum sent him and slipped them on along with his new watch Hermione got him, as Ron looked in the mirror horrified.

"Bloody hell..." Ron said, as Carson and Harry looked at him in the mirror.

"What are those?" Ron asked the two boys.

"Our dress robes?" Carson answered, confused on why he was asking.

"Well, those are alright! No lace! No dodgy little collar!"

"I expect yours are more...traditional." Harry commented, trying to make him feel better.

"Traditional! They're ancient! I look like my great aunt Tessie! I smell like my great aunt Tessie! Murder me boys." Ron groaned, observing himself in the mirror still.

The boys made their way to the entrance hall, as they waited for their dates. Ron and Harry met up with Padma and Parvati, and Hermione still didn't show. Carson waited a few more minutes when he heard Parvati whisper, "She's beautiful."

Carson turned to the stairs to see Hermione in a periwinkle blue dress, her hair done up in a ponytail, with a bun on top. The matching necklace's Carson had bought in third year that they never took off was sitting on Hermione's neck, being visible to everyone. She looked absolutely stunning. Carson got out of his trance and went to the stairs.

"You look stunning." He whispered, taking her hand. "You look very handsome." Hermione whispered, as she connected her hand with Carson's. The two went to where the champions were gathered, and soon enough went inside.

They started the ball with the opening dance for the champions, and Hermione and Carson danced gracefully. The first song ended, and they made their way to the champions table for dinner. All the champions and their dates had a conversation together and all got along.

"Care to dance 'Mione?" Carson asked, once dinner had ended.

"I would love to."

They made their way back on the dancefloor and had danced together, along with Ginny and Neville. The next slow song came on, and Carson pout his hands on Hermione's waist, like McGonagall had instructed him to before.

"I love you Hermione Granger." Carson whispered as they danced together. "I love you too Carson Marshall."

Both continued to dance, now just messing around, and having fun with Viktor and his date, as Ron and Harry sulked at their seats. "Should we go talk to them?" Carson whispered to Hermione, who nodded.

They both made their way over to the two boys, who Ron glared at them instantly.

"What's got your wands in a knot boys?"  Carson asked, as Hermione held Carson's hand.

"You. Fraternizing with the enemy. Talking to Krum, he's a champion!" Ron said bitterly.

"Fraternizing with the enemy? You've wanted his autograph all year!" Hermione said, taken aback by Ron's behavior.

"He's probably trying to get ahead! You and Carson spilling information to him! You just want Harry to lose!"

"Ron! I'm a champion too! Why would I want one of my best friends to lose?" Carson asked in disbelief.

"This whole tournament' point was supposed to make friends from different schools!" Hermione shouted.

"Well, Viktor's got a lot more than friendship on his mind with you Hermione!"

"Ugh Ron you spoil everything!" Hermione shouts, running off in tears.

"What the fuck Ron?! Stop being so jealous and get your head out of the gutter! This whole night could've been fun for you! I get the dress robes suck, but you could've made the most out of it! And you should've danced with your date and actually made it look like you wanted to be with her!" Carson yelled, going after Hermione.

When he found her, she was crying on the entrance hall stairs. "Hermione don't cry. He's just a jealous git because you were having fun and he wasn't." Carson said, pulling Hermione into a hug. She wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned into him.

As they sat in their hug, they heard Snape and Karkaroff arguing. "You cannot pretend this isn't happening Severus!"

"I don't have to pretend Igor; can you not say the same?"

As the two argued, Carson brought his attention back to Hermione.

"Why does he have to ruin everything? All I wanted was to have fun!"

"Well, who said we couldn't. Let's not let him ruin our night with his jealousy. C'mon." Carson said, standing up and helping Hermione up.

They walked to the astronomy tower instead of the great hall. Up in the tower, you could still hear the faint music. "Care to share another dance in the moonlight?" Carson asked, wiping the tears off of Hermione's eyes.

"Sure. Let's dance."

The two started their slow dance again, Carson spinning Hermione around occasionally, earning a laugh from his girlfriend. "See? Ron didn't ruin our night. If anything, this is better than the crowded great hall." Carson pointed out, as they started to look at the night sky.

"Yeah. Much more fun. Thank you. For doing all of this. I love you." Hermione whispered, looking at the stars, Carson pecked her lips before responding.

"Love you too Granger."
