Carson and Harry walked into the room to be met with Professor Quirrell looking into the mirror of erised.

"YOU!" Harry shouted, causing professor Quirrell to turn around.

"Me." He said, showing himself off confidently.

"Potter, Marshall, how nice to see you both? I was told not to hurt you Marshall, so I'll make this quick." Quirrell said, firing a spell at Carson, causing everything to go black.

Carson awoke in binds on a chair. Quirrell was in front of him grinning evilly. "Wakey wakey. Look into the mirror Marshall, tell me what you see." He said, shoving the chair in front of the mirror.

Carson saw Hermione again, but this time she was coming from the entrance into the room. He couldn't turn to see if she were really there, but since this was older Hermione he knew she wasn't.

She slipped a stone into his pocket, and he felt something drop into his own pocket. Realizing he had the stone, he mouthed that he had it to Harry.

Harry nodded, and Quirrell spoke up again. "What do you see Marshall?" Quirrell shouted, Carson staying silent. "Tell me!" He shouted, slapping him across the face. Carson made up a quick lie to protect the stone.

"I see myself as head boy. I'm the quidditch captain. My whole family is there too." He said, as the quickly stole part of what Ron had saw.

"He lies!" Called a voice in the room. Carson and Harry did not know where it was coming from.

"What did you really see?!" Quirrell shouted, Carson repeating his sentence again.

"CRUCIO!" Quirrell shouted, aiming his wand at Carson.

He screamed in pain, the feeling of one thousand knives stabbing him and his lungs closing up. He went through the agonizing pain, letting out screams of pure pain, begging to make it stop. Quirrell stopped and recomposed himself.

"I'll stop. Tell me where the stone is Marshall." Quirrell said, grinning evilly. Carson looked to Harry; his friend wide eyed at what was happening. Carson shook his head no, and the pain resumed.

This was the cycle for the next few times, he would beg for the pain to stop, and not tell about the stone. Soon enough, Carson blacked out again.

When he woke up, he was not where he last remembered. He awoke in the hospital wing, Dumbledore by his side.

"I see your awake Mr. Marshall." He said, Carson looking confused.

"What? What happened to the stone? Quirrell didn't get it did he?" Carson said, worried about if he had gotten it.

"No. Your good friend Mr. Potter destroyed it after you fell unconscious." Dumbledore said.

After getting a quick recap of how Voldemort was attached to Quirrell's head and Snape was trying to protect Harry, and how Carson had the torturing curse put on him and blacked out. Dumbledore had let his friends come see him.

"Carson!" Hermione shouted, running into the hospital wing, ready to see her best friend again. He slammed into him and squeezed the life out of him. He wrapped his arms around her, and they stayed like that until Harry and Ron broke them out of their moment.

Harry had given Carson another recap about how Quirrell had died when Harry touched him, the love of his mother before she died leaving a mark of Voldemort not being able to touch him. He had also said that once Carson had blacked out again, he grabbed the stone and destroyed it before killing Voldemort again.

They all went to the end of year feast in the great hall, Hermione not leaving her best friends side. Slytherin had one, and Gryffindor came in dead last since the four had lost them two hundred points.

"Another year, gone! And now, as I understand it, the house cup needs awarded, and the points stand thus. In fourth place: Gryffindor, with 312 points!" Dumbledore announced, receiving not so much applause.

"In third place: Hufflepuff, with 352 points!" Dumbledore said, earning more applause than the Gryffindors.

"Second: Ravenclaw, with 426 points!" Earning more cheers from Ravenclaw and in first place, with 472 points: Slytherin house!" Dumbledore said, only the Slytherins clapping.

The four friends exchanged saddened glances, knowing they were the reason Gryffindor came in last.

"Yes, well done Slytherin, well done Slytherin. However, recent events must be taken into account and I have a few last-minute points to award." Dumbledore said, everyone now listening intently.

"To Miss Hermione Granger, for the cool use of intellect while others were in grave peril: fifty points!" Dumbledore said, Carson tackling Hermione into a tight hug. She smiled at him, and he smiled back as the other Gryffindors applauded.

"Second, to Mr. Ronald Weasley, for the best played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years: fifty points!" Dumbledore announced again, earning cheers from all the Weasley's. Carson high fived Ron as a congratulations.

"Third, to Mr. Harry Potter, for pure love and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house: sixty points!" He shouted again, more cheers erupting as they were now tied with Slytherin house. Draco Malfoy looked livid, hoping Carson wouldn't earn Gryffindor more points.

"Fourth, to Mr. Carson Marshall, for enduring the worst pain imaginable to protect his friends, I award Gryffindor seventy points!" Dumbledore shouted, Hermione's turn to tackle Carson into a hug. She was curious as to what he had endured that Dumbledore would call the worst pain imaginable though. Both him and Harry hadn't mentioned Carson was tortured by Voldemort.

"And finally: it takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends. I award ten points to Neville Longbottom!" He said, putting Gryffindor into a huge lead, and all the Gryffindors cheering for Neville. He had the biggest smile on his face.

"I believe there is a change in order, assuming my calculations are correct." He said, snapping his fingers and changing the green and silver colors to red and gold.

After the feast, everyone went to their dorms for the night. Carson was still pretty out of it since he was literally tortured. He had told Hermione what had happened, and she squeezed the life out of him again.

The next morning, all four packed up their belongings and went to the train. They sat together, just talking.

"Doesn't it feel weird? To be going home?" Hermione asked, Harry shaking his head.

"Not really. I'm not going home not really."

The four looked at the book Hagrid gave them before they left, full of pictures from the year. If only the next year would be as good as this one.

(End of first year! Don't hate me please but we will dive into the trauma Carson received from this chapter in the future. It's for the plot. )
