Once all the kids arrived to the platform, Hermione and Ron went to go get seats, while Mr. Weasley kept Harry and Carson behind for a minute to talk.

"Listen to me boys, please don't go after Black. Carson you already know this, but he's after you two. He thinks you're the only things standing in you know who's power of returning." Mr. Weasley said in the most serious tone the boys had ever heard. Clearly this was important.

"Why would we got after a lunatic who wants to kill us?" Carson said, Harry agreeing. Suddenly, Hermione stuck her head out the window, yelling for them to get on as the train started to move.

"Just watch yourself, will you boys? Protect each other." He said, before shoving them to the train. They nodded their head and ran into the train.

When they arrived to the compartment, they both noticed a sleeping man on the edge by the window. He was wearing shabby clothes, and they all had never seen an adult on the express, only the trolley lady.

"Who's this?" Carson asked, sitting next to Hermione, and kissing her cheek. He was also playing dumb, he knew Remus Lupin. He was a friend of the Marshalls.

"Professor R.J. Lupin." She said, earning a look from Ron.

"How is it that she knows everything?" He said, groaning as he admitted she was smart.

"It's on his suitcase Ronald." She said, pointing to the suitcase up top. "She does know everything though." Carson chimed after, Hermione blushing at the compliment.

"Well, close the door. We need to tell you something." Harry said, starting to explain how Carson and him were being hunted by Sirius Black.

"Let me get this straight. Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban to come after you two?" Hermione said, clutching Carson's arm in fear of her boyfriend being murdered.

"Yeah. Looks like it." Carson said, holding Hermione close to him.

"But they'll catch Black, won't they? I mean... eventually?" Hermione said, her voice barely a whisper. Ron was the one to answer her question, and it didn't make her feel any better.

"Sure, I mean of course, no one's ever broken out of Azkaban before and he's a raving, murderous lunatic..." Ron said, trailing off as Hermione glared at him.

Suddenly, the lights go out and the train comes to a stop. Everyone lurches forward, and they bump into each other. The four scramble back into their seats.

"We can't be there yet. It's not nearly time." Hermione said, looking at her watch.

"Maybe we've broken down?" Carson said, nervous for what was happening. This wasn't normal.

"Dunno. Ouch Ron! That was my foot!" Hermione said, Ron muttering a sorry.

"Are you alright?" Carson asked, worried about his girlfriend.

"Fine. Thanks for wondering." She said, pulling him into a kiss.

Just then, someone opens the door and falls into the compartment. Carson and Hermione pull apart quickly.

"Harry, is that you?" The person turning out to be Neville asks, pulling himself up.

"Yeah. Sit down Nev." Carson said, moving him to a seat next to Ron. Carson returned to Hermione, and she grabbed his hand.

Suddenly, the compartment got all cold, Carson pushed Hermione towards the window, trying to protect her. He put himself in front of her and there was a whirring sound.

"My sneakoscope. The one Ron got me...something bad is going on." Harry said, explaining the whirring noise everyone was hearing.

"I think somethings boarding the train." Ron said nervously.

"Don't. Move." Professor Lupin said, getting his wand out. "Lumos."

The compartment lit up, but not a lot and a hand entered the compartment. Carson held Hermione away from it protectively, as it got closer to Carson. Soon, another one entered and got close to Harry.

They both went rigid and fell out of their seats. Carson heard Hermione shout his name in fear before everything went black.

When he woke up, everyone was surrounding him. He sat up and Hermione hugged him and kissed his cheek repeatedly. "What was that?" he asked, as Professor Lupin handed him some chocolate.

"Eat. It'll help. That was a dementor, one of the ones from Azkaban. They were searching for Sirius Black. It's gone now." Professor Lupin explained to both Harry and Carson.

"Carson, are you okay?!" Hermione said, not breaking her hold on her boyfriend.

"Yeah, I'm fine. All good." He said, taking a bit of the chocolate as Professor Lupin left the room.

"What happened to me?" Harry asked the group.

"Well, you went sort of rigid and fell out of your seat and started shaking. So did Carson." Hermione explained.

"Did any of you...you know? Pass out?" Carson asked, hoping Hermione didn't. He could care less about Ron right now; his main priority was if his girlfriend were okay.

"No. I felt... weird. Like I'd never be cheerful again. But... no." Ron said, still shaken from the event.

"No...I was trembling...cold but then Professor Lupin made it go away." Hermione said, easing her boyfriend's worries.

"But someone was screaming. A woman." Harry said, everyone else giving him weird looks.

"No one was screaming Harry. Did you hear anything Carson?" Hermione said, scared for the boys.

"Yeah...but it was a man." Carson said, earning more looks of confusion.

The friends stayed silent, and the rest of the ride went by quickly. Hermione never let her boyfriend out of her hold. She was still scared from when he collapsed and didn't want him to be hurt again.
