Carson arrived to the common room, to be met with Harry, Hermione, and Ron all talking on the couches. Hermione turned around and rushed over to Carson once she caught sight of him.
"Are you okay? What did Professor McGonagall talk to you about?" Hermione asked, hugging her boyfriend.
"I'll tell you later." He dismissed, as they both sat back down, Hermione in Carson's lap.
"How can Dumbledore let that horrible woman teach? And when we're taking our O.W.L. tests too!" Hermione vented.
"You reckon she's here to spy on us?" Ron asked, slightly cringing at the couple.
"Well, not us. Just Dumbledore and the order."
"I know this probably isn't the right time, but Harry you got detention during quidditch practice. I wanted the whole team there, but I know Umbridge will never let you get out of it. Next practice though, I want my co-captain there." Carson stated, as Harry nodded. As much as Harry didn't want to be lectured, he was happy Carson's mind was taken off of the graveyard.
The rest of the day went by smoothly and soon enough it was time for their detention.
The two walked to her office and opened the door to see a bright pink room with cats all over it. Carson nearly threw up at the sight of the office. He sent a light to Hermione before he started his detention.
"Ah, Potter, Marshall. Sit down."
The two sat down at the chairs in front of her desk, as she grinned at the two.
"You are going to be writing lines tonight, and you will be using these quills." Umbridge commanded, passing the two blood red quills over to the boys. Carson saw the light from his necklace under his shirt and hoped Umbridge didn't see it. Luckily, she didn't.
"Mr. Potter, you will be writing 'I will not tell lies' understand. Mr. Marshall, you will be writing 'I am a liar' understand?"
"You haven't given us any ink." Harry said through gritted teeth, mad at what Umbridge was making Carson write.
"Oh...you won't need ink."
The two took the quills and started writing their assigned sentences. Carson didn't understand why he couldn't use his own quill, until a sharp pain in his hand became known. He looked down to see the words, 'I am a liar' carved into his skin. It seems Harry had noticed his as well. They both glanced at Umbridge, who smiled evilly at the two.
"Problem boys?"
They both shook their heads, and the pain became more unbearable, but they suffered through it. Eventually, they were dismissed for the night to go to their dorms.
"That's enough for the day. Mr. Potter, same time tomorrow. Mr. Marshall serve this as a reminder." Umbridge said, taking his hand and observing the gash. "A reminder that you are nothing but a liar."
Carson went straight to his dorm, hoping to get some rest. He arrived in the dorm to be met with Hermione already in bed reading as she was under the covers. She looked up from her book to see Carson, and he went straight into the bathroom before Hermione could say a word.
Carson tried his best to cover up the wound he had received, hoping Hermione wouldn't notice. He changed into his pajamas and got in bed. As he slipped under the covers, Hermione caught a glimpse of his hand.
"Carson...what happened to your hand?" Hermione asked cautiously, as she took his hand in her own and looked it over.
"Detention." Carson muttered, as Hermione grabbed her wand.
"Terego." Hermione muttered as she waved her wand at his injured hand. "That should help a bit. You aren't a liar Carson. She's just evil." She reassured, as Carson nodded.
"Get some sleep love. Your hand should feel better soon. I love you."
"Love you too 'Mione." Carson muttered before he succumbed to slumber ending the day.
