Skye's POV

It was weird, walking into the Curtis house. I hadn't spoken to anyone in a month. I glanced at Steve, but he refused to make eye contact. I knew he was mad at me, honestly, I wasn't even sure if we were still together.

"Shepard let ya out for the day," Steve ran his mouth.

I just looked at the hole in the couch Brooke and I were sitting on. Part of me wanted to laugh, seemed like every time we sat on this couch, we were in trouble.

"You two still running with Shepard?" Dal lit a smoke before tearing into us. He actually has the nerve to bring up Tori's name.

I sucked in a sharp breath as Brooke stormed into the kitchen. I jabbed my finger into Dally's chest, "you have no right to even speak her name!" I spat in his face, "you have no fuckin' clue."

I didn't even give him a chance to answer. I spun around and slammed the door shut. I knew coming here was a mistake. They didn't want me and Brooke there. I pretended that I didn't care, but I did care. I cared more than I ever had before.

I ran down to the lot. I had been avoiding it since that night. I walked through it. I played ball here with the gang. The guys taught me to fight here. Pony and I used to steal Two's cigarettes and smoke out here.

On the other side of the coin, Tori died here. Brooke and I were stabbed here. We could have died, but we had the gang, watching out for us. Protecting us. Every time I got in trouble, the gang was there. Every stupid stunt that Brooke and I pulled...we had the gang. Were they happy with us? Not usually, but they were there, making sure we didn't fuck up too badly.

I sank into the old car bench and fumbled with my smoke, "you're so predictable, Skye."

"Steve," I didn't look up.

He sat next to me, "we need to talk."

I knew what that meant.  My stomach tightened, "I get it," I wasn't going to give him a chance to say he was breaking up with me, "it ain't you, it's me...blah blah blah."

Steve responded by crushing his lips into mine, "no dummy, I want you to come back.  Shepard is changin' ya and I don't like it.  I miss you, Skye.  Please...come back."

I wanted too...I so badly wanted too, "you think Darry and Dally are gonna let us back in?"  I pulled my hair into a ponytail, "we really fucked up."

"Yeah...ya did, but I know Darry would do anything to get both of ya back."

"Really?" I asked hopefully.

"Let's go ask him..." I started to walk away, but Steve grabbed my arm, "after we make up for lost time."  He pulled me onto the car bench.  I was all too happy to be back in his arms.
