Elijah
It's been a few days since the careers day at Avery's school and I could tell some of the events had impacted her.
From social workers to that bitch Aubrey. God I hated that spoilt brat.

I had tried to confront her about it but asking her what was going on wasn't getting me anywhere so instead I told her I would be here when she wanted to talk.

I just wish I could fix all her problems, I hated knowing there was something bothering her.

Even as a baby I knew when something was up but she couldn't talk so I had no way of knowing what.

Flashback 3rd person

"Sarah I think we should take her to the doctor's" A young man, barely even 20 said as he rocked his daughter back and fourth. She wouldn't stop crying and he knew something was up.  The young man decided to sing, it wasn't something new, he would sing each night and each night she would fall asleep.
"Goodnight, my angel, time to close your eyes,
And save these questions for another day.
I think I know what you've been asking me,
I think you know what I've been trying to say.
I promised I would never leave you,
Then you should always know,
Wherever you may go, no matter where you are,
I never will be far away."
The man's panic grew when her cries didn't stop but they turned silent. "I'm calling the doctor" he announced. Now that he thought about it, she was off with her food the past few days, he suspected his princess was ill which worried him further. Babies didn't have the best immune system.
"Let me take her whilst you call" the woman said, successfully hiding her hatred for the little girl. Although the man was oblivious to his girlfriend's hatred for their child, he held his daughter closer in a protective manner"I have got her, come on angel, let's go get you settled then I'll call the doctor"

I ignored the memories and got back to my paperwork. It was the weekend so I would probably do it at home, As soon as Avery grew comfortable with me she slept in later.

I also had no doubt she would either be with Xander or trying to find out his family secret.

She had voiced them all too me and each time I said no, she couldn't find out. It would break her trust, maybe even her trust in all guys.

She came into the kitchen and without even a good morning she jumped right into the topic
"Maybes he's a drug dealer" I shake my head.
"Why can't you just look into him" she stated with frustration.
"It's called a secret for a reason. He obviously doesn't want you to know" I state and get back to my reading.
"I'm going out" she said even though she sounded like she had changed the topic but obviously it was far from done.

Xander

I knew getting involved with Avery West would have consequences but she was kind, sweet and definitely innocent. She didn't deserve this so I made it my personal mission to see that she is safe.
She was getting close to the truth, I was grateful for Elijah for not telling her.

"Xander get downstairs, your father wants you" mother spoke
God. I hated them
I went downstairs to see what pathetic reason my father called me for.

After half an hour I stormed out. I hated this part. I hated doing his jobs but I did them anyway and I had learnt to switch off all my emotions.

The job went quick, I was only 16 but there was no denying what I did, I did well. I walked back down the street towards town when I heard shouting. I turned and saw Nathan and Harry fighting, I couldn't help roll my eyes. I would bet any amount of money they were both fighting over Avery. Henry was 17, on the football team and even though he would deny it, it was obvious he had a crush on Avery.
I wouldnt be suprised if most of the guys,  maybe even a few girls had a crush on her. She was stunning. No guy had the guts to ask her out, because it was a well known fact Elijah West was a ruthless business man. A not so well known fact was he was indeed a mafia boss.

Avery
I was going to find out what Xander was hiding, I did feel bad about it because he obviously didn't want me to know but I was worried for him. Something was wrong.

Elijah made me eat breakfast before I left, he still considered me malnourished so I had to eat at least 2 meals a day which was something I struggled to do even  after months of living with Elijah or his parents.

Short chapter but just a filler for now.
Opinions on adding more Elijah flashbacks with Avery as a baby?
