chapter 19

Elijah
I didnt like nathan at all. I hated the fact that she was stopping the night at his house. What kind of parents leave their 15/16 year old alone for the night. I guess he had a brother but still god knows how old he is. I hadnt met the brother but I hated the idea of leaving her alone at a strangers house. This was so frustrating.
"Are you sure you want to go" I ask and she nods "I wanna go Elijah" she replies and out of the corner of my eye, I see her roll her eyes. I hated when people rolled their eyes, it was a clear sign of disrespect but with her it was different. It showed she was beggining to trust me which I was pleased about and also I had noticed I was also starting to sound like a parrot, I had repeatedly asked her throughout the day if she wanted to go. I didnt want her too, but I couldnt deny her the opportunity to go, she had to spend time with her friends outside school and that's why I put aside what I wanted and was currently driving towards Nathan's house.
"Thanks for this, I'm kind of excited about it but nervous, I dont know what to expect" she said, I quickly look at her, she was clearly nervous, it was shown through her facial expression, i look back at the road, not wanting to crash "dont worry about it, you will have fun, although I do have a few rules for you" I say. Yes more rules, I know. "Ok what are they" she replies and I smile, thankful that she was so accepting of them. "Ok, no drinking or drugs, if anything happens call me straight away, I'll come get you even if its 3am." I tell her. "Ok I can follow those" she grinned and I gave her a small smile. We soon pulled up to Nathan's house, at first sight it looked to be a nice suburban house, it had a small garden which was well kept, it gave me a little comfort also knowing this wasnt a rough neigborhood. "ok I'll see you tommorow then" Avery said as I stopped the car. She was eager to leave and I didnt like that but I chose to ignore it. "Yeah, message me when you want picking up" i drag out my words. I really didnt want her to go. "Will do, bye Elijah" and she was out of the car, walking up to the house. She was about to knock when the door opened and beth and nathan appeared, beth gave her a quick hug and then nathan. God I hate that kid. And then they were inside, my little girl was growing up too fast.

I pulled out of the small drive and decided to occupy myself with work. There was always work to be done and tonight would be filled with illegal stuff.

Avery

I was beyond nervous, nathan and beth pulled me into the house which I noticed straight away was well decorated. "Should we invite Alec" beth asks as we enter the living room. "Already did, hes with Tom tonight" nathan said, he then turned to me "you can place your bag down anywhere, we ordered pizza around 5 minutes ago, cheese, meat feast and garlic bread" he said and I put my bag down against the wall "I love cheese pizza" I say. "Great, let's get the night started, we are starting with a comedy, beth called first pick, you can choose next then I will" he explained and I nodded in agreement.

The night seemed to fly by, all the fear I had felt seemed to disappear within the first hour as we were all lounged on the sofa eating pizza and watching a film that had us laughing. There was no awkwardness despite me only knowing them for a short amount of time.
"I'm home" a voice shouted and in walked a guy, which I presumed was Nathan's brother. "I brought friends, what are you kids doing" the guy said again. "We are watching a film" nathan replied and rolled his eyes. "Boring, let's play truth or dare" a girl who was stood next to Nathan's brother said.
After much arguing we were now sat in a circle on the floor. Ethan, Nathan's brother was the one to start.
"Gabby, truth or dare" he asked, gabby was one of his friends that he brought back, along with Peter and Jake. "Dare obviously" she answered. "Great" ethan said and began pouring shots, 18 in total. That was another thing, Ethwn had insisted on playing with alcohol which I was very nervous about but I couldn't tell them why, I didnt want them to dislike me so I didnt say anything.
Gabby downed all of them and ran out of the room to be sick, they had been drinking before they got back.
The game went on and a few truths and dares, I was asked by Ethan "truth or dare new girl" I knew drinking alcohol wasn't an option and that was potentially gonna be what he dared me so I decided to stay safe "truth" I tell him. He thinks for a minute before talking "I heard that you lived with Elijah West" he started but was interrupted by gabby "the Elijah West, no way" she said in shock. "Yep, I've seen him pick her up from school. Now the question is why, he has never mentioned a daughter to the media, no one has seen him with a kid, are you one of his long lost kids, you know like a girl he got pregnant 15 years ago or something" he started to ramble on. "Its complicated " I say, I really didnt want to talk about my life and the truth was, I didnt know what to answer. "Not a valid answer" Ethan said. "Just leave it Ethan, she doesn't want to tell you and she doesnt have too" nathan said, I was thankful for him as Ethan rolled his eyes "fine, this is no fun, let's go" ethan and his friends got up and left after that. I was relieved when the front door shut. "Sorry about ethan, he can be nosey but he means no harm, I promise" nathan told me and I nodded "I feel a little bad that i ruined your game" i admit starting to feel the guilt creep up. "Aww don't, we much preferred it being just us" nathan comforted me. "Hey guys do you think we should try the vodka your brother left" beth interrupted and I quickly answer "no" which was followed by Nathan's response "my parents would kill me if they found out" beth looked a little disappointed but nodded "I've always wanted to try" even though she said that, she still began cleaning the mess up along with me and nathan.
Finally once everything was put away I started to feel tired, it had been a long day and I was usually asleep by now. Beth had gone to call her mum as she promised she would at some point tonight, I thought about calling Elijah but he would only think something was up,and I didnt want to worry him. "You look exhausted" nathan commented "I am" I admit and he smiles "well I figured we would have a true sleep over and sleep in the living room" he said which didnt sound too bad "ok sounds good" I tell him. "If you want, you can go change in the bathroom and do whatever and I'll go grab some more blankets" he told me in which I agreed.

Soon we were all laid in the living room with tons of cushions and blankets. I had slept on the floor before but it had never been this comfy, usually it was cold and dirty but now it was warm, soft and clean. "Tonight has been so much fun we should do it again"  beth said. "Yeah definitely" nathan replied. "It was fun" I tell them. We talk for a  little while longer before finally going to sleep.
