Robin and I went back to the police station and the investigators who were in charge in the accident that killed my parents. We asked them if they can reopen or reinvestigate the accident. At first, the officers were confuse.

"You want us to reinvestigate a closed case?" Officer Morales slightly grimaced. "That will be a little difficult..."

"We will need new evidences to reinvestigate a closed case. Something that will hold in court so we can file a case. It has to be a strong evidence that could give us a just cause to prosecute someone and say that the accident is not an accident but actually a way to murder people." Officer Martinez said.

I looked at Robin and he nodded at me. I turned back to the investigators and showed them the cd of the video my parents made. "This cd is part of my parents' belonging you handed to me when I picked them up here in the station. We found a video of my parents in it. Please, watch it." I asked them to load the cd on a computer and played it for Officer Martinez and Morales.

They were surprised to see the video. And after watching it, they gave us their thoughts on it.

"We never thought about exploring the victims' belongings because it was not a criminal investigation." Officer Morales said. "But even so...this new piece is..."

"Its not solid enough," Officer Martinez gave me a regretful look. "The Akages could easily dismiss this as circumstantial evidence. According to the time stamp on the video, it was recorded two months before the accident. The Akages could claim that they have reached an understanding with your parents and everything was resolved during those two months interval."

"The fact that you ended up under their guardianship as well as your parents' company being handled by the Akage management...it'll be hard to prove that they had bad blood between them. Your parents actually handed over two of their most important assets to the Akages," Officer Morales added thoughtfully.

"What if they were coerced to do so? Under duress?" Robin asked.

"Then we have to prove that they were coerced. But that'll be hard to do since both of them are dead..."

"Maybe they told some of their friends that the Akages are harassing them. How about Mr.Tañada's sister? Maybe your father has said something to your aunt," Officer Morales looked at me.

I felt cold at the thought of dragging people in this mess. "I...I haven't told my aunt that I will ask for a reinvestigation on that accident..."

Both investigators turned quiet and thoughtful. Then Officer Martinez shook his head. "No matter how I jumble it on my head, this video is not enough for our superiors to agree to reinvestigate this case. We will need more. I'm sorry, Blu."

"But Sir..."

"We cannot do it," Officer Morales said regretfully. "We are being paid by people's taxes. We cannot expend taxpayers' money on a reinvestigation that would lead us to nowhere. That will be unfair. But if you want, you can hire a private investigator to gather more data about the accident."

"We can do that?" Robin and I looked at each other. We didn't think to go that way.

"Yes. But you have to be careful because there are a lot of crooks and scammers nowadays. There are instances that a person will hire a private investigator who just strung them along for payments for months but turned up nothing in the end. Some were fleeced by that modus." Officer Martinez explained.

"Oh..." I felt less hopeful after hearing that.

Robin nudged me. "We will talk about hiring a private investigator," he said to the police officers.
