BLU)
I wonder when I will stop being naive. Did I truly think these two people will slip up? I could laugh at my old self. And when I said "old self" I meant that naive stupid guy who thinks Mr.Akage and Mr.Gilbert will slip up and reveal something solid enough for us to prosecute them if Robin and I will interrogate them again. That naive stupid guy who existed about an hour ago.
They are giving us nothing. Mr.Akage and Mr.Gilbert even look eager to talk to us. All throughout our meal, we have tried to pry them about their hatred towards my parents but Mr.Akage just said...
"I already told you, I hate them enough to contemplate killing them whenever Robin is hospitalized and they won't help us. But I also thought about you in those moments and I know how much you love your parents, Blu."
It sounded generic and just mixed up phrases of his usual dialogue.
But if Mr.Akage is staying on his script, Mr.Gilbert is keeping mum.
"I actually only encountered them a couple of times and in those times, they were angry at me. Not me at them."
Great. That was worse than nothing. Mr.Gilbert now made us think that he was actually a victim of my parents being vicious on him as they blame him for my traumas.
In the end, I just give up trying to pry anything from them. These two are harder to penetrate than the walls of Troy before the makeshift horse was wheeled inside it.
"You two had such a busy week last week," Mr.Akage said after we had dinner. Mr.Gilbert has cleaned up the dining table except for the after dinner coffee and sliced fruits. "I was wondering when we can all sit down and talk again. How's school?"
"Marvelous," Robin rolled his eyes. I can see that he mirrors my frustration.
"We were reluctant to ask the progress of your little investigation because you might get more suspicious on us," Mr.Gilbert didn't mince his words but he said them in his usual calm and sincere fashion that gives you the impression that nothing could rattle him.
But I am sure glad that he opened up this issue. This could be a chance for us to get something from them. "Yes, about that...do you happen to know the owner of the cafe where the accident happened?" I asked.
"Of course," Mr.Akage nodded.
Both Robin and I perked up at his answer. "You do?"
"Absolutely. I even talked to them," Mr.Akage frowned at us. "Why, is there something unusual about that?"
"Yes, because you shouldn't interfere with the police investigating an accident." Robin said.
"I didn't interfere on anything. I talked to them and said that my ward's parents died in the accident. They offered their condolences to Blu. I was there together with the other families of the other people who died in that accident. They contacted me and asked if I want to join their prayer service for the souls who died in that cafe. I thought I should represent Blu since he was just getting used to living with us during that time."
"Why didn't you tell me there was such an event?" I asked, frowning at my guardian.
"Because like I said, you were in the middle of adjusting to living with us." Mr.Akage retorted easily. "You were still deep in mourning. You were still visiting your old home. You clearly have lots on your plate that time so I decided to spare you from more spectacles. It was a simple prayer service but I will admit that it was beneficial to me because I get to offer my help to the other families of the victims..."
"Ah, you managed to put more people in debt to you." Robin mused grumpily.
Irritation flashed on Mr.Akage's face. "I never intent to collect anything from those people who already lost so much. I just wanted to help. I feel like I have to do something to at least lessen the burden they were feeling..."
