(ROBIN)

"Truly?!" Blu's eyes widened upon hearing Gilbert say that they could finally meet the police officers investigating the vehicular accident that killed Blu's parents.

"Yes," Gilbert smiled as he nods to Blu. "They finally have something to report to us. We will go to the precinct this weekend to talk to Police Inspector Morales and SPO4 Tolentino. They are the ones actively investigating the case."

I stared at Blu as he received that information from Gilbert. Blu took a visible deep breath. "Did they manage to find the driver of the truck?" He asked.

Gilbert kept his face passive. "I asked about it but the officers told me that they will impart every information we will ask for when we meet them. So you might as well list all the questions you want to ask so you won't forget them. You know, ready yourself."

"Okay, I will do that." Blu nodded before he went back to looking at his plate of roasted chicken and vegetables, our dinner tonight.

"Will you be two safe while meeting them?" I asked, out of curiosity.

"Blu will be with Gilbert. He will be the safest person on Earth." Uncle said. I frowned at that. "Will Gilbert be okay?" I asked sardonically.

Gilbert gave me a pleased smile. "It warms my heart for your show of concern for my welfare, Master Robin."

"I just want to make sure you both will be fine," I said.

Uncle regarded me intently. "Who are you and how did you manage to kidnap my nephew?" He asked.

"Har har, very funny." I snorted at him.

Gilbert and Uncle chuckled. I turn to Blu to see him looking contemplatively. "Are you already thinking about the questions you will ask the officers?" I asked.

Blu shook his head. He looked at Uncle Zane. "I was thinking...what if they point at the Akages as the ones responsible for my parents deaths?"

"Then sue Uncle," I said. That surprised my three dinner companion. "That quickly?" Blu winced at me. "I will just sue. Just like that?"

"Can't he...I don't know...ask for solid evidences first?" Uncle Zane asked me.

Gilbert sighed. "Gosh, you all really don't know how the law works, huh? Tsk tsk..." he looked at Blu. "Okay, since we are already on the topic of suing someone, I want to tell you to not get your hopes up. They will probably tell us that they are still following leads and confirming things."

"Still confirming things? It has been months, surely they must be done with the investigation by now," I said.

Gilbert rolled his eyes. "We are in the Philippines. The police force here has limited budget, limited man power but swamped with cases. There's so many thing left to be desired when it comes to policing here. Did you know that the ratio of police on civilian in this country is 1 to 500? One police officer per 500 civilian. That's criminal but thats the system they are operating on."

"Then they should hire more police officer," Blu said.

"I wish its that simple, Blu." Gilbert said. "But there are fewer and fewer people applying to be police nowadays. Its a dangerous job with small compensation in return. Not to mention the image of the police force here is abysmal at best. A noble job for sure but the cons to being one has stocked up."

"Are you happy that you left the force?" I asked Gilbert.

"To be honest, yes." Gilbert stared at me. "It was a hard transition, yes. To be a police officer one day and then a carer for you the next. But I thought I had to do it. I have a hand on why you were suffering so...I thought its the least I can do to help you get better."
