"They change things a bit on this place," I said as Robin and I made our way inside the ecopark. It's a large patch of greenland amidst the city. It's a popular spot for people who wants to experience nature without leaving Manila. And if a person is tired of spending time on the mall, this place is a great alternative to hang out and play.
"They have bicycle trail, a hiking trail and even a zipline ride. We tried that when we went here about two years ago," I added while remembering my visit in this place with my parents. "It was Father's Day weekend, I think, when we came here. We were tired of eating in the mall or watching a movie so Dad suggested coming here. It was fun,"
Robin smiled as he listens to me. "Who is more adventure, your Dad or your Mom?" he asked.
"I think my Mom. She was more outgoing for sure. And she made friends easily. She was a foodie too. We tried a lot dishes because of her. Some were good, others were disasters." I said.
"She sounds like a lovely woman," Robin said.
I felt my heart swelling at what she said. I stared at him. "They would have liked you," I said.
"As your friend or boyfriend?" Robin asked with a little frown on his face. That gave me a pause. "I...I don't know." I sighed. "I asked Tita Josie, she said as long as I am happy...she won't judge. But she has always been a cool aunt to me. Dad was traditional, that I know. He instilled their family traditions to our family. Like fasting when its the Lenten season or completing the night masses leading to Christmas. I..." I chuckled. "I truly don't know if they'll understand that I fell for a guy,"
I fell quiet as I remembered my parents. Luis and Denise Tañada. They were good parents. Not perfect but I know they put me first in every decisions they made. They gave me a good life. And when they died, they placed me in Mr.Akage's capable hands.
Yes, they were good parents.
I woke up from remembering them when Robin took my hand in his. I looked at him. "If they will be against us, I would court them until they let us date." He said. "I will be good to them Blu. I will respect them. I would do that. If they were still here."
That...touched me. "Wow...you are...devastatingly handsome." I said as I touched the collar of his shirt. "Don't wear this again. You are too handsome in it. People are looking at you."
I finally noticed it. People, mostly the ladies," turned their heads and stare at us. They must've found Robin handsome too.
Robin laughed. "Are you sure they are looking at me? What if they are staring at you? Or us in general because we look like we are on a date?"
I discreetly look around and saw curious eyes darting our way. I winced. "You are right. Who knows what's going on inside other's heads?" I sighed.
Robin chuckled again before he pulled me to walk further. As we walk, we talk about the things we see, like the trees and signs...and people. Then I noticed something again. "It's the weekend, there should be a larger crowd here. I remember when we visit, there's too many people with us. Why is it scarce this time?" I wondered. There are people but not in the volume I expected. That was one of my worry when I decided having this date in this ecopark. That too many people will be here as well and see me and Robin together.
But look here...the crowd is thin this weekend. Did we get lucky?
Robin sighed. "You cannot be this naive." He said.
"What?" I asked. We stopped at the entrance of the hiking trail. If we go up there, we will pass the aviary. I want to see the birds. But first, Robin is calling me naive. Why?
