(ZANE AKAGE)

"Staying late again, Sir?"

I looked up from the documents I am reading and saw Devin standing in front of my desk.

My eyes turned to the small ornate clock decorating the wall of my office and saw that it's already half hour past 8 in the evening.

"Yes," I nodded to Devin, my senior secretary. "I still have several proposals to study..."

"Do you want me to order dinner for you?" Devin asked evenly. Ever the professional. Devin is the only reason why Gilbert is staying at the penthouse and not working as my EA here in the office. Four years ago, Gilbert has this position as well but working on the penthouse as all around housekeeper and my EA at the same time, took a serious toll on Gilbert's health so I decided to hire someone else to assist me in the office and so Gilbert can focus on our home and Robin.

It was not easy finding Devin but Gilbert came through one last time as he found me the perfect secretary. So far, I have no complaints on Devin's efficiency and professionalism.

I shook my head, "No need. I can do that myself. You should go home. I don't want you to get stuck on traffic."

"I live nearby, Sir. A seven minute drive is all I need and I am home. If I want to walk, it takes just half an hour. But the weather is hot so I have my car." Devin said. "You got that place for me and my family when I started working here. I thank you for that."

"Did I do that for you? That's good then," I said conversationally. "Still, go home. I am fine."

"Very well, Sir. Goodnight," Devin nodded and turn as he fished out his cellphone. Something clicked on my head when I saw his gadget.

"Devin, do you contact Gilbert frequently?" I asked.

Devin stopped, turned to face me again and frown a bit. "Master Gilbert?"

"Yes. Gilbert. Do you contact him or does he contact you frequently?" I asked...all curiosity.

"Just occassionally, Sir. Especially when you left important documents in the penthouse or if you need new shirts as spares. Nothing out of the ordinary." Devin answered evenly.

I slowly nodded. "That's all? That's all you talk about with Gilbert?"

Devin frowned like he is thinking. Then my secretary nodded again. "Yes. I do believe that was all we talk about, Sir."

"Are you sure? Doesn't Gilbert ask anything else? Maybe...about me?"

Devin's frown won't leave his face. Like Gilbert, Devin has a clean demeanor and quiet aura. But I know how efficient this man is. He was well trained by Gilbert. I wonder if my secretary and my butler got too close to each other.

"In what capacity, Sir?" Devin asked. "Ask about your work or schedule?"

"No," I shook my head. "Something different from work. Anything personal about me..."

Devin gave me a surprised look. "Do you have anything personal going for you that doesn't involve Master Gilbert?" My secretary sounded genuinely baffled.
