(BLU)
The next day, Robin and I met again for breakfast. We are both in our school uniforms, a pair of grey pants and white short sleeve polo. We both have black leather shoes on our feet. I have my messenger buddy bag slung across my body while a backpack was hanging on Robin's shoulder.
"Sit down, both of you." Mr.Gilbert said while he bustles around the kitchen, preparing food for us.
"Where is Uncle?" Robin asked before sitting down at his seat in the breakfast table.
"He left early." Mr.Gilbert said. "Master Zane said he needs to prepare for a report to his board of directors."
"Or he could be avoiding us," I said with a knowing smile on my lips. "I think Mr.Akage is done listening to us bickering. We bombarded his whole weekend with our fights."
Mr.Gilbert winced, "I will not be surprise if that is part of his reasons for leaving early." He placed a plate of perfectly fried sunny side up eggs on the table. "I already packed your lunches. Eat them and don't buy junk food on your cafeteria."
"Will do, Mr.Gilbert." I smiled to reassure him that I will eat the lunch he prepared for me.
"I am not making any promises," Robin said before sipping some coffee.
I sneered at him before I started to eat. I think I need to just let go of Robin's easy rudeness to people if I don't want to be too stressed. I already have enough on my plate, calling out Robin's callousness will just overflow my mind.
After breakfast, we said our goodbyes to Mr.Gilbert who followed us to the door. "You have my number on your cellphones. If you need me to pick you up at school, call me and I will fetch you..." the butler gave us last minute instructions as we put on our shoes at the foyer.
"See you later, Mr.Gilbert." I waved at him. Mr.Gilbert wave back, a towel rag still in his hand. "Have a nice day at school, Blu."
I got out of the penthouse and run fast when I saw that Robin is already inside the elevator and the doors were about to shut close.
I stopped the door with my hand and slipped inside the elevator before glaring at Robin. "Thank you for waiting for me to get in, really." My tone is sliding down with thick sarcasm.
Robin just snorted, "Stop acting like you are in a family drama. Why do you have to wave at Gilbert anyway? Are you both shooting a commercial for a hallmark card?"
"I am being polite," I said defensively.
"It's tacky and cheesy." He mocked me as he pushed the buttons of the elevator. "I know you just lost your parents but stop clinging on the first adult that treats you nicely. Gilbert is being paid to care for us. It's his job to be nice to us."
My hands fisted again. Robin is ugly and jaded. "Oh, are we talking about money now? Then I think Mr.Gilbert is not compensated enough. His salary is not enough to cover for all the stress from taking care of your bratty ass. 250 grand is not generous enough. He needs a bonus."
Robin frowned, "What made you think Gilbert doesn't get his bonus? He gets all his bonus plus his pays double during the Christmas break and summer vacation. He is well paid. That's why he is staying with us..."
I gave him a disgusted look. "You have a shallow view and opinion of people. You think Mr.Gilbert is putting up with your rules about having a well lit room and your door staying ajar just because you paid him well..."
