And the next few weeks carried on like that. You saw Blaise quite a bit. He always seemed to be checking on you to make sure you were ok. Harry always checked in. Hermione too but they knew you needed space and they were kind enough to give it to you.

It was the 11th February when Professor McGonagall asked all the year 6 and 7s to stay behind after breakfast. You had just come down to the hall for the announcement as you ate in your room like always.

You can see Draco and Astoria out of the corner of your eye. He is looking down at his plate, pushing his fork around but not eating as she is showing off her ring to her friends.

Your heart aches.

"He isn't happy you know." Luna says as she comes to stand beside you.

"He will be. He will learn to love her. She is a really kind person."

"He loves you Evee."

"He can't have me Luna. He made sure of that."

"It's very sad really. Very Romeo and Juliet."

"I actually know that story. Hopefully mine doesn't end quite the same."

"I hope so. I love you and Draco both. He is family by blood by you are family by heart."

"You were there for me Evee when my dad died after the battle. You were there when Neville and I broke up. You were here when I got back to Hogwarts after escaping Malfoy Manor and you helped hide me in the Room of Requirement."

"And I for you Evee. I am sorry I have not been about much. I have distanced myself from everyone."

"Aw Luna. Why? What happened?...I mean it's ok if you don't want to talk about it."

"No it's alright. If anyone understands. It would be you. I...em...developed feelings for someone but they are unavailable. It is easier to detach myself from everything to I get over it instead of coping with heartache everyday."

"I definitely know the feeling Luna."

"I know. I am sorry."

"It's ok. Are you coping ok?"

"It is getting easier Evee. It is hard being separated from everyone but I do not want to split the group."

You give her a smile as she stands beside you as the rest of the school clear out of the hall. You see Astoria bend down to kiss Draco goodbye and Luna gives you hand a squeeze.

When she leaves Draco looks to you and gives you a smirk. Prick!

"Now students! The reason I have asked you to stay is because the teaching staff and I have been discussing and we feel that in order to let the students hair down a little, we are going to be hosting a ball for you this Valentine's Day. This is ball is for your years only but if you have a significant other in a younger year you may speak to me and get an invite for them. The ball will start at 7pm and the attire will be formal so dress appropriately. Now off to class with you."

A ball usually would have excited you but the thought of watching Draco and Astoria waltz around the dance floor gives you a heavy feeling in you chest.

"I feel exactly the same Evee."

"Luna, we are going to look fabulous at this ball. We are going to be all dressed up and we can be each other's partners. Sound good?"
