It was time to leave Hogwarts. Something you had been dreading for a long time. This place felt like home to you and leaving felt wrong.
Your trunk was packed and you took one last glance around the dorm room with Binx carefully stored in is carrier. This was your room only for the last few months yet it felt like your safe haven while you were here.
You open your portrait door to see Harry standing there. "Oh Merlin, Harry you scared me. What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to help you down to the hall with your trunk. Actually I am hoping to pick your brains a little?"
"Sure," you smile as he takes your trunk with a small box carefully held in his other hand and you both head off with Binx's carrier under your arm. "How can I help Harry?"
"I really want to talk to Hermione about...well you know. But I have no idea how."
"Harry it is Hermione, you can talk easy to her."
"Usually I can. But I have tried and now I am a bumbling idiot when I am next to her."
"Harry you have faced, dragons. You have fought him more times than anyone. You got a death curse shot at you, twice, and yet you are still here. You are like the luckiest bastard that ever walked the earth."
"I don't feel lucky. I feel lost." The box in his arms moves slightly but you ignore it.
"Harry you don't have to. Hermione likes you too. You know she does. I know she does. Just walk up to her and ask her out. Think of it like asking her to the library to study. You just say 'Hermione would you like to go out sometime?' It isn't hard."
"And if she says no?"
"She won't but so what if she does. At least you will know and you will save yourself a lifetime of what ifs?"
"I would be lost without you Evee," Harry says turning to hug you.
You reach the hall at this stage and look around for your friends who are standing by the front door. Draco staring at you.
"So everyone ready to head to the station?" Blaise asks taking Luna's hand.
"As we will ever be," Daphne laughs.
"I am not ready to say goodbye," Pansy said as Ron throws his arm around her.
"We have tonight," you reassure her. "You are all heading to mine for the party? I think most of our year are going."
"Very excited to let loose," Theo smirks.
"I just have one person I need to speak to. You can head on down to the train and I will catch up with you."
"I have to go and see McGonagall so if you want we can meet back here and head down together?" Harry asks.
"That would be great Harry. Thanks,"
"Alright we will head down and see you two there," Ron takes Pansy's hand and they head out.
"Actually," Hermione says as everyone else heads out, "I would like to say goodbye to Professor McGonagall too if that is ok Harry?"
"Of course. We can head now and meet Evee in ten minutes.
"Where are you headed?" Draco asks you.
"Off to say goodbye to Severus. I know it seems silly to say goodbye to a painting but I-"
"No it doesn't at all. Come on I will walk you."
"You don't have to Draco."
"I know," he smiles as he heads off to the common room. You catch up with him and walk to the portrait in silence. Neither of you knew what to say to the other.
