The party was a real hit!
Everyone was enjoying themselves. The dancing started off quite fancy with guests waltzing around the floor with partners. You managed to dance with everyone. Theo, Ron, Blaise, Phoenix, Dylan, Jonathan, George, Bill, and Mr Weasley and Kingsley.
Before long, the music picked up in tempo, and groups of guests broke onto the floor to boogy. You loved it.
The food was delicious. Both little stars have been loving it too as they had you craving the fruit platter as well as ice cream and cake!
And there was always a glass of ice-cold pure orange juice in your hand.
By 11.45pm, Draco found you dancing with Pansy and Daphne and Astoria.
"Can I steal her ladies?" he asked as he held out his hand to you.
"Oh yes." "Of course,"
Pansy gave an excited squeak.
You take Draco's hand. "I thought we could go on a little walk."
You smile as he leads you outside.
Everyone seems to be watching excitedly as you walk out onto the veranda.
The music echoes as he brings you down to the dock by the pond. It was always your favourite place to visit.
Tonight, it was covered in white rose petals and candles. You didn't remember decorating all the way down to here, but you assumed that Draco must have. After all, there were rose petals and candles everywhere already.
As long as you can remember, this is where everything special in your life began. This is where Draco found you, crying over Cedric's death, when he came with his mother to visit the summer after 4th year.
He comforted you and held you as you cried. That was the beginning of your relationship. For the rest of that summer, every time his mother came over, which was quite a few times a week, he would accompany her. Something he never used to do before.
You would swim in the pond with him. You showed him the muggle village nearby and things like electricity and movies.
You would take walks around the countryside, and he took you flying on several occasions.
That summer, you fell in love with him. Fell in love with his soul. You saw a Draco that no one else could see.
Not the bully or the cocky little twat that roamed the halls of Hogwarts. But the romantic, funny, and charming gentleman that he really was.
He told you all about his hopes and dreams for the future. He had to keep up this facade of hating Harry Potter and his friends and pretend to hate muggleborns when, in reality, he didn't care about blood status.
He would spend hours out by this pond reading to you. It became your favourite thing to do. You remembered spending the last few weeks of the holidays secretly hoping he would kiss you. Imagining what it would feel like.
And it took until the last week in August when you finally had enough and asked him. "Are you ever going to kiss me, Draco Malfoy?"
"You want me to?"
"Of course. I have been waiting. I am wondering now if this is a one-sided thing that we -"
He leaned in at that moment and placed a short and sweet kiss on your lips. It was a perfect first kiss. The kiss you gave him back after that was not so sweet... more intense and more desire behind it.
Not that he complained.
Looking at him now, you could see how much had changed. He was still as handsome. Maybe even more so in fact as he didn;t gel his hair anymore.
