Savitri was peeling off the skin of orange, and her wounded foot was resting on the pillow. She was greeted by a feminine voice, who stood at the doorway - "Hello Aunty."
"Hi beta...andar aao na." Savitri invited the little girl to come inside.
She nodded, and sat down beside the old lady...Naina was diligently watching the woman doing her work, and she asked - "Shivangi tai kaha hai?"
"Woh tuition lene gayi hai...shaam ko aayegi," Savitri replied.
"Orange logi?" She offered the young girl, and Naina slightly shook her head.
"Batao beta...kya leke aau tumhare liye? Strawberry Milkshake lau? ya chocolate?" Savitri asked her in a soft voice, and Naina quickly rushed to stop the lady from getting up on her injured feet - "Nahi, aap aaram karo, main koi guest nahi hoon...main toh sirf aapse milne aayi thi. I got to know ki aapko chot lagi hai...toh."
The lady smiled at her, and said softly - "Kitni achi ho tum...sorry beta tumhare birthday ke din nahi aa payi wish karne."
"It's ok, I don't mind...I mean main yeh sab chizon ka bura nahi manti. Aapko chot lagi thi, obviously kaise aayegi aap...but Sameer...woh kyu nahi aaya? Maine use request bhi ki thi ke aana tum...mere Aai Baba ko acha lagega bahut, par usne shayad seriously nahi liya hoga mujhe ya kuch reason hoga." Naina told the lady with an innocent expression and tried to reflect despondency upon not being wished by Sameer.
"Woh actually Sameer zyada ghul mil nahi pata kisi se...use akele rehna pasand hai...tumhare ghar bahut log aaye hoge na isliye shayad woh nahi aaya." Savitri endeavors to cover up her son's mistake, and Naina was keen to know why Sameer doesn't gel up with new people?
"Haan maybe...no problem," Naina said simply.
"Waise, ek baat puchu?" The young girl looked at the middle-aged lady giving her a curious expression.
"Haan?" Savitri replied affirmatively.
"Sameer ko friendship se kyu allergy hai itni?" Naina asked her in a soft voice, and Savitri couldn't understand why this girl was asking her such a tough question.
"Kyu? Kya hua?" She questioned.
"Hua kuch nahi, meri ek friend hai...usne Sameer se dosti karne ki try ki but usne sidha mana kar diya, aur meri friend ko bahut bura laga." Naina lied to the lady with a serene expression, and Savitri pitied the girl who was heartbroken because of her son.
"Bachpan se use dosti karna nahi pasand...par agar koi uske liye kuch kare, uske liye time nikale, use samjhe, uska support kare toh shayad mera Sameer itna bura bhi nahi hai...usne shuru se kuch aisi chizein dekh li hai jiski wajah se uska ravaya logo ki taraf kaafi badal gaya hai," Savitri replied to Naina with a solemn expression, and a lone teardrop escaped out of her eye. She wiped it off quickly, and Naina was eager to solve this quite mysterious riddle.
"Beta, kya tum mere Sameer se dosti karogi?" The lady requested or rather threw a huge responsibility on Naina, and she enlarged her doe-shaped eyes in shock.
"Kya? Main?" She asked her in a low voice.
"Haan, main chahti hoon woh logo se ghule mile...bahar jaye, khul kar hase, ache se bolna sikhe, zindagi ko jeena sikhe. Main tum pe koi zabardasti nahi kar rahi hoon, sirf tumhe pooch rahi thi." Savitri said with a meek smile and pushed aside the plate of oranges.
"Main koshish karugi." Naina told the lady in a soft voice, and thought while twisting the hem of her dress - "Kya soch kar aayi thi yahan aur kya hua...I thought I will ask aunty Sameer ka favorite kya hai khane me taki main woh chura kar use pareshan kar saku, but instead of that unhone mujhe us khadoos se dosti karne ka invitation de diya. She doesn't know kya cheez hai unka beta, dosti toh door mujhe woh apne ghar bhi na aane de uska bas chale toh. Ugh Bappa hai kuthe fasavla tumhi mala?"
