"Naina ji, aap kaha chali?" Anchor Amir asked the bride-to-be when she started to descend from the stage.
"Matlab?" Naina asked him in confusion as all the performances for the night were over.
"Rukiye zara." A well-dressed boy put a satin cloth over Naina's fluttering eyes, and the crowd was perplexed and curious too to know what was going to happen now.
"Yeh kya kar rahe hai aap log mere saath?" Naina mumbled with fright covering her low voice, and soon her fear started to subside when she heard a familiar voice singing for her - "Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka, Sabka Kehna Hai, Ek Hazaron Me Meri Behna Hai."
Her pink lips parted in awe and her hands moved up to untapped the cloth. She looked at her elder brother, who bluntly and acrimoniously refused to participate in any kind of dance and fun-time, now holding a microphone in his right hand, looking at her with an affectionate smile. Naina wasn't able to decipher anything for a while because it was too unanticipated, unbelievable, and unrealistic. She gaped at Prashant with transparent delight blistering on her shocked countenance, and he came forward while singing further, his free palm raising to caress her soft cheek - "Saari umar humein sang rehna hain."
Sameer was partly happy that his plan didn't flop, and made his fiance feel deprived of her brother's presence on her important night. He was pleased to see Prashant accepting his request and making Naina feel special.
Naina blinked harder than ever, vehemently stopping tears from escaping her drenched eyes, but they did, they fell carelessly on her warm cheeks, slowly gliding towards her neck and then dress. She didn't expect such a wonderful gift in the form of Prashant singing a song for her in front of everyone. He never preferred showing off his love in public, hence he didn't even hold any Sangeet party during his wedding, but today seeing him openly expressing his feelings and affection for his darling sister made her insides feel overwhelmed with utmost pleasure.
Prashant wraps his arm around his sister's fragile shoulder and turns her tear-stricken self towards the huge screen, displaying all her childhood photos.
They spotted a Mini Naina holding a cute barbie doll in her teeny-weeny hand, whose legs were missing, arms were twisted brutally and golden curly hair was looking like a bird's nest. The little mischievous girl was seen smiling roguishly at the photographer with cheeks all pink-pink, and soft baby lips curved for a pout.
"Bholi bhali japani gudiyan jaisi tu, pyari pyari jaadu ki pudiyan jaisi tu."
Naina couldn't help but feel embarrassed with the photographs playing on the giant screen, illustrating her childhood ki Badmashiyan and Mastiyaan.
In one of them, She was caught sitting beside an unlocked fridge, her adorable face tinted with melted chocolate liquid, hands and cotton yellow frock bathed in the fresh scented brown stains, and one clammy finger pressed between her pink lips, her big-doe eyes innocently looking up at the cruel person who captured her discreet mischievousness in the camera.
Everyone burst into laughter while watching Small Version Of NAINA who wasn't naive at all. Not even near the word called "Innocence" She was one of the most sly and harmless naughty children who would play impish tricks on people around her or create a mess in the room/hall/kitchen, wherever she would be or make people laugh hysterically with her cute antics and expressions. She might not be a Masoom Bhola Sa Bacha who would sit quietly and obediently at some corner of the house, but however, she was. She was the cutest and loveliest human they loved to adore their entire life.
They found a little ponytail girl wearing her brother's baggy white t-shirt which reached to her ankles, and Prashant giggled, remembering that sweet memory when his sister stole his t-shirt from his cupboard by climbing up on a stool as she was very teeny-teeny that time. They were amused by Naina's half-broken teeth flashing an effervescent smile.
