"Naina!" His masculine voice came out as a whisper, a very soft whisper, and She hummed, her fingers stroking the sharp lines of his beard.

"I Love You," Sameer said with a mushy smile, and Naina looked at him affectionately, knowing all well how much this guy loves every inch of hers. She blushed inducingly and He blessed her with the most beautiful kiss filled with genuine respect, emotions, and purity.

"Chalo na cake cut karte hai." She dragged him towards the wall where they used to sit every night, and He was taken aback by the exquisite arrangements this girl made for him. He never celebrated his birthday, not even in childhood, but today Naina made it all look so ethereal and unbelievable.

Naina quickly took out the special cake from the normal white box, and knelt beside him, handing him a knife with a sweet smile. Sameer was shivering to hold it in his hand, he wasn't able to grasp this much attention and love from his lady...his entire body was vibrating with an overwhelming feeling. Naina glanced in his way in perplexity, and Sameer finally gathered up the courage to articulate his inner turmoil - "You know, Naina...bachpan me har bache apna birthday celebrate karte the, bahut ache se, shaan se, apne friends ko invite karte the, cake cut karte the, gifts ke liye excited hote the, family ke saath bahar dinner karne jate the, but maine..." He stopped to gulp down his tears, and Naina understood what was coming next. She quickly placed her hand on his shoulder, pressed it gently, and encouraged him to vent out his bottled-up pain. Sameer slightly nodded, and started again in a cracking tone - "Maine kabhi apna birthday nahi manaya, i know yeh koi badi baat nahi hai, but still. Har koi apna special day celebrate karta hai apne loved ones ke saath, but sadly meri life me yeh sab kabhi nahi hua...Aai ke husband ne humare ache din ko bhi bure se bura bana diya tha...He never brought happiness to us, he never cared for us, he never loved us. Naina, he never loved us."

And saying this Sameer burst into layers of uncontrollable tears, and gingerly lay his head on Naina's solacing shoulder, feeling no shame in crying in front of a girl, because he knew She would understand his pain and feelings...He knew she wouldn't judge him for being such a weak person, he knew she is an angel who will undoubtedly vanish his loneliness and nightmares with her magical aura. Naina looped her arm around his neck while patting his head soothingly, her heartbreaking umpteenth time after listening to his disastrous childhood experiences. She can't even imagine how this boy would've tolerated so much sorrow, so much brokenness, so much injustice with his family, so much terror every night. People who pass comments at him for being rude and not making any friends should know how this person has spent his entire childhood without his father's love and respect. They should know what he had seen in such a delicate age.

"Sameer, please calm down, main hoon na tumhare saath...hum har saal tumhara birthday celebrate karege, bahar jayege, tumhe jo pasand hoga woh khayege, aur bahut sari achi yaadein banayege jis se tumhe yeh sab kuch bilkul yaad na aaye." Naina tried to mollify his broken man by whispering assuring words and rubbing his hand gently, and Sameer felt so much better and cured from inside. The holes of old wounds seem to be mending slowly with her gentle strokes on his face.

"You're so good!" He said weakly.

"Nope! I'm the best." Naina looked at him with a gleaming smile, her fingers gently brushing away his tears.

"Yes, you're the best," Sameer said in a soft voice and stared at her precious smile that colored his dull life.

"Now stop crying, good babies don't cry on their special day." She spoke with a cute smile, holding his quivering hand comfortably. She sliced the cake into a small piece and fed it to him lovingly. Sameer's mirthful expressions swiftly turned bitter and unnatural when he tasted the good-looking cake. He looked at her with wrinkles under his beautiful eyes, and asked her - "Yeh kaunsa cake hai?"
