Elders commenced with the haldi rasam, and Naina was happily letting her mother apply turmeric paste on her body with green leaves. Sarita pecked her forehead and did the same task with her smiling son-in-law, making him feel goosebumps. He didn't think his mother-in-law would paint his skin with yellow color, but he was delighted that she at least considered him a part of this ritual. Everyone was joyfully tickling two couples by decorating their cheeks, shoulders, and feet with Haldi...and their friends teasingly poured a bucket of water above the four humans to drench their clothes. Naina playfully slapped Anjali and Pratiksha for purposely ruining her lehenga blouse, and fits of laughter echoed in the hall. Tripti was quietly standing before the column, staring at Sameer having the best time of his life by squeaking in euphoria as the men's gang started to sing a random song.
He genuinely looked happy with Naina.
And no matter how hard she tries to compete with her cousin. Deep down she knew Naina was far better than her in everything and she was lucky too to find a gem man like Sameer.
Positivity and enthusiasm lingered in the air as Samaina and their friends posed for several group pictures and their fun time was captured in the videographers' cameras.
"Pura lehenga geela kar diya in logo ne mera," Naina said in annoyance while wiping her mouth with a handkerchief given by Sarita.
"Dost aakhir isi ke liye toh hote hai meri jaan." Anjali remarked, trying to pour another bucket of water on her friend, but this time Naina was quick to say - "Tujhe meri kasam agar dubara pani feka toh mujh pe."
"Yaar." Anjali whined in response, keeping down the bucket, and said further - "Shadi me masti hum nahi karege toh kya maza aayega."
"Behen meko koi problem nahi hai but I have an allergy to water, and I don't want to sneeze during my wedding, isliye rok rahi hoon," Naina explained to her bestie while drying her face with a napkin.
"Sameer ke saath swimming pool me romance karte time kaha jati hai teri yeh allergy?" Anjali questioned her in a mischievous tone, and Naina widened her eyes in terror, averting her gaze at Sameer, who thankfully was having a chat with Aryan. She quickly smacked her schoolmate's wrist in sheer resentment for talking about private things in front of elders, and chided her - "Kuch dimag hai tere me? Sabke samne aisi baatein kaun karta hai?"
"Kisi ne nahi suna...toh itna overreact karne ki zarurat nahi hai," Anjali replied to her with a stern look.
"I will see you later," Naina warned her with a scathing expression and the next moment sneezed aloud, causing Anjali to gape at her.
"Behen tujhe sach me zukham ho gaya kya?" She asked with guilt in her voice.
"Haa toh bola hi tha na maine mujhe thanda pani suit nahi hota hai," Naina said tersely while folding the napkin over her nose.
"Sorry!" Anjali meekly apologized.
"Jaane de, I will be fine." Naina gave a small smile and inhaled a sharp breath, her nose jammed with an invisible liquid yearning to escape the holes.
"Naina tumne suna what he's saying?" Sameer pulled her attention from sneezing, and She curiously asked him - "Kya keh rahe hai?"
"He is saying..." He was cut off in between as Aryan said - "Saale Sahab sab baatein nahi batayi jati."
"Arey par she is going to be my wife...she should know what were you saying about her." Sameer looked at his brother-in-law with an innocent smile, and Naina turned to face Aryan, asking him desperately - "Kya kaha aapne mere bare me sameer ko batao mujhe?"
