Naina was enthusiastically twirling around while showcasing a bright smile. She has been a crazy lover of birthdays, be it of her or anyone else. This occasion is like an important event in her life, a month before her birthday she starts talking and reminding people about it, hoping to receive surprises on her special day. She has beautifully bedecked in a rosewood color with net sleeves of cerise shades...her fair complexion shined with the flashes of twilight, and her eyes glimmered in exuberance as she watched herself in the mirror looking gorgeous as always in the pristine knee-length frock. Naina tweaked her lower lip while wearing the white-beaded bracelet on her skinny wrist, and then combed her wavy tresses with gentleness. She was satisfied with both her outfit and simple makeup, and trudged out of the room to meet her family and friends, and earn bountiful compliments which she loves to hear.
The hall was decorated with various shapes of many-hued balloons, and the golden hanging was tucked against the cream-colored wall, her tiny eyes danced in delight at seeing the spectacular arrangements made by her loving family, and Sarita happily came towards her daughter. Naina looked at her mother with a twinkling smile, and asked innocently - "Kashi diste mi Aai?"
(Kaisi dikh rahi hoon main, mummy?)
"Kitti goad diste majhi mulgi" Sarita gently put a dot of kohl on Naina's side cheek.
(Kitni achi dikh hai meri bachi)
"Thank You Aai," Naina said with a sweet smile.
"Baba kuthe ahet?" She asked her mother worriedly.
(Papa kaha hai?)
"Woh cake leke aa rahe hoge, tumne apne sare friends ko invite kar diya haina?" Sarita questioned her daughter in a soft voice, to which Naina nodded her head in yes.
"Naye padosiyon ko bhi keh diya na?" Sarita asked, and Naina's face color faded in an instant, how should she tell her mother that Rude-Man explicitly refused to participate in her birthday. She sighed in displeasure, and replied to the lady - "Haan, bol toh diya hai par pata nahi woh log aayege ya nahi."
"Kyu?" Sarita looked at the birthday girl in utter confusion.
"Aise hi, mujhe laga," Naina said with a small smile and tried to not think about Rude-Man.
• Sameer was dressed up in a dark black and smoke gray checkered shirt, with denim jeans. He grabbed the money from under the bed and put it safely in his pockets...He took a deep breath to look normal and twisted the knob gently. He walked out in the living room while looking around to confirm if his mother or sister was seeing him, sighing in relief. He quickly rushed out and hurriedly descended the staircase while glancing at the wristwatch. Soon, he reached the clothing store, and suddenly his heart skipped a beat as he wondered why he was purchasing a top for that girl, that pretty-girl without being related to her in any way. He could have simply given her a card or chocolate as a birthday present, but he thought of gifting something useful and beautiful. Sameer rubbed his hand over his lightly grown beard and treaded to the main entrance. The same girl who talked to him in the morning was making a bill for a customer, and He stood aside nervously. Once the woman left, he came forward and asked her in a soft voice - "Hi...remember, main subah aaya tha yahan top ke liye?"
"Yes Sir." The girl uttered, in a meek tone.
"So, main pure paise leke aaya hoon, aap please jaldi se mujhe woh red top de dijiye," Sameer told her anxiously, and the girl gave a sympathetic smile.
"I am sorry sir but that top is sold out." She said in a low voice.
"What?" He exclaimed surprisingly.
