"Naina, let me explain to you," Sameer said in a soft voice while trying to hold her hand, but Naina moved back, showing her palm in dejection.
"I don't want to listen to any of your explanations." She looked at him calmly but her voice was laced with the intense heat of acrimony.
"Ek baar sirf...please." He requested her in a feeble voice.
"Nahi sameer...mujhe kuch nahi sunna. Tum mujhe sirf itna batao yeh koi time hai kisi ke Mangetar se baat karne ka? It was past 2:25 am aur sone ke bajaye she was talking with my fiance?" Her voice became extremely louder in frustration and her eyes burnt in resentment for the woman who was smartly trying to make a space for herself in Sameer's life.
"Please calm down, I know you are right...aur yeh koi right time nahi hai kisi se baat karne ka but we didn't realize the time," Sameer replied to her in a soft voice while placing his palm on her left cheek which felt unbelievably sultry to his skin.
"You didn't realize the time? Why? Is she your fiance?" Naina yelled at him in annoyance and Sameer gestured to her to lower her voice.
"Naina please shanti se baat karo, bahar sab jaag rahe hai." He said in a meek tone.
"I don't care, just answer me, tumhe uske saath baat karke itna maza aa raha tha ki tumhe pata hi nahi chala kab do baj kar chale gaye?" She asked him in a stern voice, her face hardening with loathing.
"Naina main keh raha hoon na I am sorry...mujhe sach me time ka dhyan me nahi aaya. I promise next time aisa nahi hoga." Sameer assured his aggrieved girl in the gentlest tone and stroked her soft cheek with his palm. But right now nothing soothed her as the thing which tormented her mind was how Sameer could show so much interest in a particular girl. Why was he inclining towards Namrata?
"Main next time aisa kuch hone hi nahi dungi," Naina said with a stoic face.
"What do you mean?" He asked her in a perplexed tone.
"Don't keep any contact with her." She announced in a controlled voice while simply taking off his hand.
"Naina ab yeh zyada ho raha hai. If you don't trust me then you can see our conversation...hum sirf normally baat karte hai. There is nothing that you shouldn't see. Dekhlo." Sameer took a deep breath and told her with a somber visage.
"I don't want to see anything. Just do one thing...don't take her calls and don't reply to her messages abhi se. Ok?" Naina purposely ignored his explanation and ordered him in a firm voice while maintaining a phlegmatic countenance.
"Do you trust me?" Sameer looked into her eyes and asked her calmly.
"Main bewakoof nahi hoon sameer, yeh emotional blackmailing ka game mujh par nahi chalega. Tum bhi jante ho I trust you more than anything...but I don't trust that girl. Khud engaged hai phir bhi dusrey ke mangetar se baat karti hai aadhi raat ko. Itna samjh nahi aata usko ki tumhari shadi hai agle haftey. You should give your time to me, not her." Naina reprimanded his school crush in a disappointed tone while taking steady breaths, and Sameer knew his girl was unquestionably right to feel enraged at Namrata. No woman would easily accept that her fiance was talking to another woman at 2:00 Am.
"Main usko bata dunga agli baar aisa na kare," Sameer said with a small smile.
Naina vehemently shook her head, refusing to listen to him, and spoke furiously - "Nahi nahi...bas hogaya ab. I can't tolerate her anymore. Jab dekho tab bahane dhundti hai tumhe call ya message karne ke. Hell with her, mile hue ek mahina nahi hua aur itne close hone lagi hai woh tumhare. Enough now...one should have basic knowledge ki kisi ke fiance ko is time pe call nahi karna chahiye hai, it's wrong. Agar main hi uske mangetar se raat 2 baje baat karti toh usko kaisa lagta?"
