It troubled their souls for talking to each other so rudely and paying no heed to one another's hurtful feelings. Naina despondently stared at her phone, her eyes reflecting grief for bickering with her man, and her fingers automatically went to call him back to apologize. Before she can dial his numbers his name began to flash on the screen, promptly polishing a smile on her moist lips. She swiped to answer and both of them said in unison - "I Am Sorry."
There was a soft silence amidst the couple and both of them chuckled over the call as they understood how eager they were to apologize to each other for their folly.
"Mujhe tumse aise ladna nahi chahiye tha," Sameer said gently.
"Mujhe bhi tumse itni rudely baat nahi karni chahiye thi...mujhe samjhna chahiye tha ki aaj kal humari baat kitni kam ho rahi hai. I am sorry babu." Naina apologized to him in a meek tone.
"It's ok jaan, tum bhi frustrate thi main bhi frustrate tha." He spoke with a slow smile while laying his head on the pillow.
"Hmm...mujhe na humare beech ki yeh ladaiya bilkul bhi nahi pasand." She said annoyingly while biting her long curvy nails.
"Aur mujhe humare beech ki yeh dooriyan," Sameer said huskily, his eyes shutting to soak in the warm fluid escaping out of his eyeballs.
"Kab aaoge tum mujhse milne? Ek mahina hone aaya hai." Naina asked him in a quivering tone and sighed.
"Jaldi aauga janam, bahut kaam badh gaya hai office me...time hi nahi mil raha. Weekend pe bhi sirf ek din chutti mil rahi hai ab." Sameer told her in a helpless tone, rubbing his fingers over his forehead to evaporate the frustrating feeling of being badly stuck between his job and lovelife.
"Acha ok, I can understand...kaam bhi zaruri haina. Kaam nahi karoge toh successful kaise banoge, aur successful nahi banoge toh mere ghar kaise aaoge mera rishta leke." Naina tried to crack a joke, however, her heart was cracking into myriad pieces for not having been fortunate enough to see his charming face every day on the terrace.
"Badi jaldi me lag rahi hai aap shadi ke liye?" Sameer asked her in his usual teasing voice, and she said lovingly - "Haa bahut jaldi hai mujhe tumhara surname churane ki."
"Aur mujhe tumhe apna banane ki." He said in a deep voice, leaving buds of sweat on her skin.
"Aur batao...kaisa raha din?" Naina asked him to change the topic, and he very well can visualize her blushy-blushy face drowning in the paint of his unconditional love.
"Ok ok, hectic tha thoda, phir tumse baat bhi nahi huwi toh kuch acha nahi lag raha tha," Sameer said honestly, and her eyes lowered on her hand flattened over her thigh.
"Same here, adhura sa lagta hai kuch jab tumse baat nahi hoti meri," Naina replied to him in a soft voice while exhaling a slow breath.
"Janta hoon...acha tumhe pata hai meri salary aagayi hai." Sameer broke the good news that he had been wanting her to know since yesterday, and Naina almost jumped on the bed in exuberance.
"Really? Wow, congratulations baby...kab aayi? Aaj?" Naina asked him enthusiastically, and his smile slowly dropped as he perceived how eager he was yesterday to tell her that his salary is credited to his bank account, but she being busy didn't bother to know anything. Sighing dejectedly, he apprised her - "Kal aagayi thi."
"Oh, toh kal raat ko tumne yeh batane ke liye phone kiya tha?" Her voice suddenly became alien with layers of guilt slipping through her words, and he softly hummed.
"I am sorry...itni achi news maine suni bhi nahi theek se," Naina said woefully, cursing her nonchalant behavior.
"No biggie, aur batao...how was your navratri? I am sure sab ladke madhosh hogaye hoge tumhe us lehenga choli me dekh kar." Sameer spoke buoyantly, a sense of pride claiming his insides for having this embodiment of beauty in his life.
