A week later

Tonight, Tony was having a party. He didn't have a reason. He'd just have parties because he's rich and he could. The party was in a giant room Tony had in the compound. It wasn't even really a room, it was an entire floor he had set up with sofas, a pool table, two bars. It was rigged with led lights, a disco ball, and a huge sound system. Everyone had already gathered, Aspen was the last one to walk through the door. She immediately walked over to Bucky and sat next to him.

Bruce looks up at her, noticing how the first thing she did was sit with Bucky. Bucky smiles at her as soon as he sees her. She has her hair in two French braids and she has on a tight black strapless mini dress with thick black heels. He leans a little closer to her and whispers to her. "You look beautiful." He says with a smile. Aspen blushes slightly and tries to hide it,

She nudges his leg a little. "Flatterer. Take me home already." She whispers back with a wink and she bites her lip slightly. Tony notices them whispering and he looks over at them but only briefly, then looks back to the conversation already going on between everyone. Clint notices too and he twirls a drumstick in his hand as he looks at Bucky and Aspen.

Bucky had only gotten there a moment before Aspen, so Steve looks at him and nods. "Buck." He nods to him. "Hey." Bucky says. Slightly surprised he was being so chill towards him, even if it was just a hello. But it was more than he was giving Aspen. And he figured since Steve was mad at Aspen, he would be mad at Bucky too. Even though he still didn't know they were together. Not for sure anyways.

Aspen and Bucky turn their attention to the conversation that had already been going on. Everyone was talking about who they thought was worthy and could pick up Thor's hammer. Tony, of course, thought he could pick it up. "I bet I could pick it up." Tony says. Aspen chuckles at him, he was so sure of himself. But she was sure that he couldn't. "I would like to see you try." she tells him. She looked around the room and she wondered if anyone else could possibly pick it up. "All of you actually." Aspen adds. Looking to everyone.

Tony goes first. He stands up and walks over to the hammer that was sitting on the table. He puts his hand dramatically around the handle and pulls on it with an ease. Like he really expected to be able to pick it up. Steve looks at Tony tryin to hold in his laughter as Tony applies all of his strength into trying to pick up the hammer. Thor looks at him not surprised he couldn't pick it up. Nobody was surprised he couldn't pick it up. Aspen chuckles and then tries to hide it but she just can't help herself. "Mhmmm." She hums.

Bucky looks over to Aspen with almost a childishly hopeful look in his eyes. "I could do it." Bucky whispers to her. Aspen smiles and she reachers her hand halfway to his, he meets her there with his hand and she squeezes his hand lightly. "I bet you could." She whispers to him. She squeezes his hand lightly again and then pulls it away, not wanting to, but not wanting anyone to catch them holding hands.

During this, Tony had gotten the arm of his suit to try and help him. With no success. He still could not pick up Mjölnir. Aspen ignores him as he continues to try. She looks over to Steve. "Stevie you should try." Aspen tells him. He nods and stands up. "I'll give it a shot." He says. He goes over and tries to pick up the hammer. Aspen can tell by his body language, he's faking the amount of strength he's putting into trying to pick it up. He wasn't even actually trying.

It was confirmed when she had seen the hammer move slightly. Apparently nobody but her, Bucky and Thor had seen it. Steve continues to fool everyone and pretends he's using all his strength and can't pick it up. He gives up and looks to Aspen. "I couldn't, you should try Aspen." He says. Even though if he actually tried she knew he could have. "Okay." Aspen says.

Bucky grabs her hand before she gets up and smiles at her. "You got it doll." He whispers. Somehow, this interaction went unnoticed. She smiles at him and stands up, walking over to the hammer. She touches it, and feels a surge of power running through her. Without her even trying to lift it. She looks at Bucky and she looks at everyone else. She decides she's going to take a page out of Steve's playbook. She pretends like she couldn't easily pick it up. It was as light as a feather to her.

Thor looks at her and shakes his head. "Aspen you totally could've picked that up." Thor says. Aspen sits down next to Bucky, not looking at Thor, looking straight into Bucky's eyes, so he knows. "I don't know what you're talking about." She says. She winks at Bucky and bites her lip again. Knowing how crazy it drives him. "Bucky you should try." She tells him with a innocent smile on her face. "You're setting me up for failure." Bucky tells her.

Aspen gives him a genuine smile and brushes her hand against his. She whispers to him as he starts to get up, "you got it baby." She says. Nobody hears he sue of her whispering, but Bucky smiles and he blushes at the new nickname she had used. Baby. He liked it. A lot. "Baby?" He whispers back with a smile. "Go lift it Jamie." Aspen says. He stands up all the way and goes over to the hammer.

And just like Steve and Aspen. He could've picked it up, but pretended he couldn't. And nobody knew, but Aspen, Bucky, Thor and Steve. They all knew they were all worthy but the rest of the team didn't. Only Thor, obviously. Bucky pretends to give up and walks back over to his seat next to Aspen. "Sorry doll, can't do it." He says. "Yes you can." Aspen tells him. Because she knows that he can. And she can. And Steve can.

"All three of you can lift it." Thor tells them. Steve backtracks and looks at Bucky. "Did you just call Aspen doll?" Steve asks with a disgusted and angry look in his face. "You could lift it, all three of you." Thor continues. "what are you all drinking? You're hearing and seeing things." Aspen tells them. Trying to get them to lay off.

Steve looks at Aspen angrily, Tony looks at her confused. Bruce looks over to Aspen too. "Steve can't get drunk." Bruce says. "Snitch." Aspen says to Bruce. "None of them can." Natasha chimes in. Loving the drama. Thor continues drinking and looking around at everyone amused. Aspen glares at Tony. "Tony I hate your parties." She says. Tony shrugs it off and Bucky looks at Aspen, shaking his head and laughing at her, and he finishes off his beer as he admires her.
