Four years later

Panic was set in. Aspen couldn't breath. She didn't know where they could have gone. Who could take them. She didn't know how something like this could happen. She didn't understand. She didn't blame anyone, she just wanted to find them.

She held onto Bucky, and she cried into him. She needed a moment to lose it before she pulled herself together. Buck held her tight. He wished he could tell her it was going to be okay, to not be afraid, but he was just as terrified as she was.

Bucky wiped the tears from aspens cheeks and kissed her forehead. Just as he was about to try and soothe her with words, even if he was sure he believed them, Aspen's phone rang. She picked it up instantly. It could be them. It could be about them. She couldn't risk not answering. She put it on speaker for Bucky to hear as well.

"Mommy?" The voice on the other end of the phone whispered. It was a tiny voice, a scared one. Aspens heart broke as she heard the fear in her baby girls voice, so did Bucky's. Their baby girl was afraid and they weren't there to help her.

"Hey," Aspen said. She smiled knowing her baby was alive, and she needed to put on a brave face for her little girl. "Hi baby." She said. "I'm scared." Their daughter said. Aspen clutched onto Bucky as it took everything she had not to sob and keep herself together, but she had to for their daughter.

"I know you are princess." Aspen told her. "Daddy and I are gonna find you and bubba, okay?" Aspen asked. She needed to know her baby understood that they were coming for them. She needed to ease her babies mind. She didn't want her afraid. As much as she should be afraid the thought of it killed Aspen.

"Can I talk to daddy?" The girl asked. Bucky could hear their little girls request and he spoke up. "Hi babygirl." He said. He couldn't help but smile talking to his daughter, regardless of the circumstances, his family, his children, were everything to him. "I miss you." The little girl told Bucky, she told her father.

Bucky tried not to cry, but a tear slipped down his cheek. This was his child, his baby girl, and they had no idea where she was, and she was scared. Screw gender roles and the man having to be strong he had every right to cry. He had every right to fall apart.

"I miss you both sweetheart, so much." Bucky told her. Both him and Aspen wondered where their baby boy was. They wanted to hear his voice. They needed to know he was okay, even if he was afraid they needed to know he was alive. And then they heard it.

"I miss you too daddy." Their baby boys voice came over the phone. Bucky held Aspen tight. He needed her close. She needed him. They needed each other in this moment, they thought hydra was bad but nothing compared to the feeling they had right now.

"Oh," Bucky let out a little sigh of relief along with a muffled cry. "Hi buddy. I miss you." He said. He pressed his forehead against aspens. They couldn't get close enough. They couldn't do anything to make their pain better, they felt a pain worse than death.

"Mommy?" Their son asked. Aspen cried more hearing her baby boy calling for her. "Hi baby boy." She said, trying to hold herself together. "Mommy's here. I miss you guys." Aspen says. Aspen could barely speak anymore. Bucky knew this. And he needed to help her and help their babies.

He hated that they were scared. "Listen guys, we're gonna find you." Bucky tells them. "Look out for each other until we get there. Can you do that for us?" Bucky asks them. "Yea." Their little girl mumbles. "Yea." Their little boys tiny voice follows. Their hearts broke even more.

"We love you so much babies." Aspen tells them. "Mommys right, we love you guys so so much." Bucky says. Their time was up. "I love you. Bye mommy bye daddy." Their baby girl said. "I love you too bye mommy bye daddy." Their baby boy said. And just when they didn't think their pain couldn't get any worse, the phone hung up and their babies were gone.
