It had been a few weeks now, tonight was the night of Tony's party. Everyone was nervous tonight, those who knew. But not Aspen. She had no idea. The circle of trust was small. They didn't want Aspen to figure it out. The compound was filled with people. People they knew, people they didn't. Steve was playing pool with Sam to calm his nerves about tonight.
Tony was flirting with one of the bar tenders, Rhody was telling his tired jokes. The ones he told at every party but nobody laughed at. But he told them every time anyway. But it was like a tradition, so no one minded at this point.
Tony got reverted by the bartender, so he moved on so a shield agent. Peter was stuck in a room with a bunch of little kids, watching them while their parents drank, but it made sense because Peter couldn't drink yet anyways.
Wanda was by the speakers, making sure the music was set up for the night. That was one of the most important parts of tonight. Clint was now grabbing Tony, getting him away from all of the single eligible (but not for tony) women.
After beating Sam in the game of pool, like he always did, Steve went over to Thor, who was giving his Asgardian liquor too much hype, betting Steve would get drunk off it, though he never did. Everything about this night felt the same as all the other parties. But it wasn't.
Sam took this time to go get another drink and he was wallowing in self pity after losing probably his hundredth game to Steve. He knew he would never win but he would still try.
Aspen sat at the bar with Natasha, Yelena and Bucky. Yelena and Natasha were having their own conversation, Bucky pulled Aspen's barstool as close to his as he could get it, partially to be able to hear he'd better since it was so loud.
Aspen looked over at Bucky and mean mugged him. "I'm bored." She told him. That was their story at these parties. They would always get bored. Neither of them were really people persons especially Bucky. But Bucky had to be tonight. "Wow thanks." Bucky tells her, rolling his eyes.
Acting like she was calling him boring. He knew she wasn't but he loved the little banter that would come from it. "Babe that's not what I meant." Aspen told him. He smiled at her knowing that wasn't what she meant. "This is just the same as every other party." She tells him. But she was oh so wrong.
Tonight was anything but any other party. They just had to make it seem like that until they were ready. Bucky gets up off his barstool and kisses Aspen on her cheek. "Mhm. Go talk to Nat while I find Steve." Bucky tells her.
She grabs his hands and pulls him down, pulling his face to hers. She pouts while looking at him. "Are you mad?" She asks. Bucky leaned forward and kissed her. How could he ever be mad at her? Especially when she was so damn cute all the time. "I could never be mad at you." He told her, giving her another kiss.
Aspen wasn't buying it. He told her to go and talk to Nat, he was basically telling her to go away, so he must be mad at her she thought. Bucky could see that she still had doubts. "Okay but you're sending me away." Aspen tells him. Bucky gave her another kiss. She shook her head after he pulls his lips from hers.
"Go talk to Nat for me. I'll come find you." He tells her. Aspen finally gives in and leans up, giving Bucky a kiss. "Ok." She tells him. He smiles at her and kisses her forehead. "I love you." He tells her. "I love you." She tells him.
He gives her one more kiss before he walks away, going to find Steve. As soon as he walks away, Nat and Yelena turn in and smile at her, like they'd been listening the entire time, because they had been.
