Aspen left Tony quickly after their conversation had ended. She went to her room, Bucky was awake, he was getting dressed. He turned to Aspen the second he heard her coming, the second he heard the door open. His eyes met hers, her eyes met his. He could see in her eyes that something was wrong.

It didn't take him too long to realize why she had that look on her face. To realize why she looked worried. He realized what was wrong. He remembered when she woke him up, kissing his cheek, whispering to him, telling him she's going to talk to Tony, kissing him and heading on her way.

He didn't know for sure what it was that was wrong, but there were two reasons why something would be wrong after speaking with Tony. Either she remembered, or Tony didn't like that they were related and said something to her about it.

He didn't think Tony would have a problem with them being related, he was all about family. His family was a lot to him, dead or not, and now that he had someone in his family who was alive, there was no way he'd shut Aspen down and not want anything to do with her.

And he protected Aspen when she was sick. He protected her from Steve when he was giving her a hard time. He was fond of Aspen. But Bucky also noticed how fond of her he was when they first got there, he flirted with her, but she shut him down, and now they found out they were related, it may have been extremely weird for him, so he may have not wanted anything to do with Aspen. But it was unlikely Tony couldn't get past it.

It would be different if Aspen hadn't rejected his advances, but she did. So Bucky came back to the conclusion that Aspen had remembered, remembered what Hydra made them do. They never talked about the things they had to do unless they had a nightmare, she must not have had a nightmare about this because they had never talked about it.

He had nightmares about it, but if she didn't remember, he dint want to remind her, so he kept it to himself. He tried his best to protect her in any way he could. If it was trying to prevent her from remembering something Hydra made them do, or from anything else that would harm him any way, he would.

Bucky sat on there edge of her bed and she walked over to him. He held his arms out for her and she climbed onto his lap. He held her tight. He held her close. She breathed in his cologne, and she felt safe, despite the circumstances. She always felt safe when she was with him. And after a moment, she pulled away, still sitting on his lap, and looked into his steel blue eyes.

"Jamie..." She whispered. "We need to talk about something." She tells him. Bucky already knew, and she knew he knew, but she needed to say it out loud to be able to fully process it and he knew that, so he let her. "Okay." He whispers, nodding. He looked into her bright green eyes, they were his safe place.

"Howard Stark is my brother." She says. She had to go through it all. She had to say it all out loud to comprehend it. "Was." She corrected. Past tense. Because he was dead... "Okay." Bucky says. He was letting her tell her, even though he knew, he knew this is how she needed to tell him, even though he knew. He always knew everything when it came to her. "You told me this already." He tells her. Helping her along.

She shook her head and tears welled up in her eyes. She felt terrible. She felt so bad and she didn't know how to fix it. She didn't know how to tell Tony but she knew that she had to. "Baby..." She whispered in tears. "I killed my own brother." She tells him. He knew this, he nodded.

He knew she was done talking but he didn't know exactly what to say just yet. He looked at hr for a minute trying to collect the right words, running his fingers up and down her back soothingly. "Jamie?" She asked when he hadn't said anything for a moment. He wanted to say the right thing. He didn't want her to feel worse than he knew she already did.

"It wasn't just you. We both did it Asp. And it wasn't us. It was Hydra." Bucky tells her. He knew it would take more than that to convince her but he was going to be persistent, he needed her to know that it wasn't her fault, she didn't do this and she didn't do this alone, they both did, and it wasn't them. Their minds were being controlled and they had no say in what they were doing. Despite Bucky's words, Aspen was in tears.

"We ran them off the road...we killed them. I forgot until Tony said something about his parents dying." Aspen told Bucky. Which explained that. She hadn't remembered. Tony had triggered the memory. Bucky shakes his head and wipes Aspen tears, seeing her cry was bringing him to tears too. He hated seeing her upset, in pain, crying. It hurt him.

"No. That wasn't us. We weren't in our right minds. Don't even think about that." Bucky tells her. "It's my fault Tony's parents are..." Aspen starts, but Bucky stops her. "No it's not. It's Hydra's. Does Tony know?" Bucky asks her. "No..." Aspen says.

"He's not gonna find out. It's not your fault doll." Bucky says. He needed her to know it wasn't her. Because he knew this would kill her inside. And he didn't want to see what happened when Tony found out. Aspen wanted to protest. "But-" Aspen starts, Bucky interrupts her. He didn't want any excuses he needed er to know It wasn't her fault.

"But nothing. Everything will be okay." Bucky tells her. "James..." Aspen whispers. She looks into his eyes and she feels safe. She always feels safe with him. "You're going to feel bad I know that. But it wasn't you. You have to remember that." Bucky tells her. He would tell her until she believed it.

"I don't know what I would do without you." Aspen tells him. "Die." Bucky teases. He smiles at her and pulls her close, giving her a kiss, kissing her more. He holds her as close as possible, he wanted to make her feel safe and loved. Because she was.
