Steve led Aspen into his room. They got in there and he slammed the door behind him. She knew he was furious. She knew she would hear about it. About being with his best friend. About dating him. Loving him. She knew she'd hear about not telling him sooner. She knew she would get the majority of the anger from Steve, but she didn't care. Because she would rather Steve get mad at her than Bucky. And she didn't care because she loved Bucky. And he knew that she loved him. And she knew Bucky would have said it back if Steve hadn't come it.

Bucky had started to say it, she heard him start to say it, and then Steve walked in. She knew he felt it too. She wasn't worried about him not saying it back because he couldn't in the moment, they were interrupted, and she knew that he felt it too. Without him having to say it, she knew. And that made whatever Steve had to say to her, worth it. Everything was worth it, as long as she had Bucky. And she knew, she knew that she had him. And he had her. They were inseparable, no matter what Steve had to say to her.

He turned around to look at Aspen after walking all the way into the room. She stayed in front of the bedroom door. They were the entire room length apart. "How long Aspen?" Steve asked. His voice booking. Loud. Angry. He was already yelling and they just got started talking. "How long have you been in love with my best friend?" Steve asked. Yelling. Aspen thought about it. How long had she loved Bucky? She just realized she loved him. And she realized she loved him, she had also realized how long she had loved him. She had loved him forever.

"Forever..." Aspen tells him. Telling him the truth. Because what was the point of lying. He heard her say that she loved him. And she did. More than anything. Steve rolls his eyes and shakes his head, scoffing. "You're not gonna try to deny it anymore?" Steve asks her. She shakes her head and shrugs her shoulders. Her eyes start to water, she thinks about everything. Bucky, Steve, she knows she's going to get yelled at, she knows Steve is mad, he heard her say it, she doesn't know why he's so shocked she's not denying it.

"You heard me say it. What's the point? And I don't want to hide it anymore." She hated hiding it. She wanted everyone to know. She loved him. And he loved her. She wanted everyone to see how good of a man he was. How he protected her. How he loved her. The way he looked at her. The way their worlds revolved around one another. She wanted everyone to see how she loved him. Why she loved him. And she wanted everyone to know she was his. And he was hers. Not matter what. And it had been that way for over seventy years. And it would be that way forever.

"You're breaking it off. Whatever it is You're not dating him." Steve tells Aspen. Her tears turn to anger. They vanish. She stares at him blankly. Her jaw clenched. "No I'm not." She tells him. She wasn't going to argue. If he didn't like them together, so be it, she wasn't ending their relationship just because Steve wanted her too. For whatever reason he didn't want them together. And she didn't care. She was done with him trying to walk all over her. Trying to control her.

"Yes you are!" Steve yells at her. She shakes her head. Still looking at him with no emotion. Her jaw still clenched. "No Steve." She tells him. "I'm not." She says. "I forbid it Aspen!" Steve practically screams at her. She scoffs and shakes her head at him. She looks back at him. Her eyes blank. Emotionless yet still somehow filled with emotion. "I don't care." She says. "I love him." She tells him. "You can't love him." Steve tells her. His voice still raised, still loud, but not as loud as it had been before.

"I can and I do." She tells him. She was fed up and letting it show. Hoping Steve got the message. He needed to just leave them alone. Let her and Bucky do their own thing. They were both adults and they knew what they were doing. They should be able to live their life without Steve trying to tell them what to do. He should understand that they were grown ups and they both knew what they were doing. They wouldn't jeopardize their friendship over sleeping with each other a few times. Obviously there was more going on than that. Steve saw it with his own eyes and he was still trying to keep them apart.

"No you can't." Steve yells to her. "And you don't." He continues to yell. She wished he would at least lower his voice. He stared at her. They stared at each other for several seconds. Pure anger running through both of their veins. "Yea?" She asked him. "Why can't I love him? Even though I do." She says and asks. She still didn't understand why he was so angry. She understood Bucky was Steve's best friend, but it wasn't that serious. It wasn't like they were a fling and them being together wouldn't ruin Steve and Bucky's friendship, but Steve was letting it. He was the one ruining their friendship.

"Because you're adopted Aspen!" He screams at her. The words ring in head ears like a bell. Her jaw drops. It takes her a moment to comprehend what he had just said. She thought she was hearing things at first. And then she realizes she wasn't. She was so confused. And hurt. Her heart felt heavy. She felt like she couldn't breath. Tears filled her eyes and she met Steve's eyes. "I-" she started. But she didn't know what to say. What do you say when your brother tells you that your whole life is a lie and that you're adopted. "W-what?" She asks.
