A/N: before starting off this chapter, id like to apologize for my absence. I've had a lot going on personally, some good, most bad. I'm doing alright now but I had to get back in the grove of the way my life was going in the moment and as much as I would love to put my writing above everything else in my life, sometimes life gets in the way and makes it impossible. If I could stay at home all day everyday and write for you all and for me, I would love nothing more, but unfortunately, bills need to be paid as i'm sure you know. I appreciate your patience, for those who have checked up on me in my absence i'm extremely grateful to have readers who care about me and not just my stories. For those who have stuck by me, I can't tell you how much it means. You all truly mean "Til the end of the line" -unlike Steve. And I love you all 3000. So I am back. My uploads will be spotty until I get back in the grove of things but i'm doing my best and again, thank you all for sticking by me, it means everything.
The day after Aspen's heart to heart with Steve, she went back to Bucky, like she always did. They decided to go get a drink together, and along with the drink, Aspen would talk to Natasha while they were there. She hadn't talked to her since they got back.
She knew Nat would want to talk and she wanted to talk to her too. She wanted Nat to know that even after Yelena kidnapping her and everything she knew Yelena's heart was in the right place and there were no hard feelings whatsoever.
She didn't want Natasha to be mad at her for any reason, especially since the entire team was trying to be Aspen's personal bodyguard even though she wasn't in any danger.
She also wanted nat to know that she didn't think of Yelena as a threat to her at all, despite everything, she knew Yelena wouldn't hurt her in any way, or kidnap her-again.
Aspen and Bucky walked hand in hand to the bar, Bucky tried to slide his hand into Aspen's nonchalantly but Aspen noticed, she grabbed Bucky's hand and squeezed it and his face blushed a bright pink color and he tired to hide it.
One thing Aspen had noticed since she got back was Bucky, he was being extremely clingy. She didn't mind it. She loved the hand holding, sudden hugs, him slipping her tiny kisses on her cheeks, her head, or her lips. She loved how affectionate he was being.
As they walked up to the bar, Nat was behind it and Yelena was sitting in front of her. Aspen sat next to Yelena and Bucky in the empty seat next to Aspen. He kept his hand tightly linked with Aspen's.
Aspen looked up at Nat and smiled but Nat's facial features were relaxed, there was no emotion showing, she couldn't tell what she was thinking or feeling in that moment. "Hey." Aspen said, breaking the ice. Nat nodded and gave a small smile back. "Hey." She said.
Nat slid a beer over to Bucky, not giving one to Aspen because she knew their routine, she knew they would share the one like they always did. Bucky would open it and start it off, practically drinking half of it at once while Aspen drank a few sips here and there.
Per their routine, Bucky picked it up, popped the lid, and drank about half of it, then handed it to Aspen who took a sip and set it back down on the counter top. Nat looked from Aspen to Bucky, then back to Aspen. "I see you have your bodyguard." Natasha remarks.
Aspen feels a ping In her chest, the subtle insult being completely unnecessary, she grabs Bucky's hand tighter and he gives hers a small reassuring squeeze.
Natasha was only upset because everyone was treating her sister like every other villain they fight, but there was no need to take it out on Aspen. Aspen couldn't help herself and retorted back. "No, I have my boyfriend." Aspen says dryly.
She decided to cut to the chase because she didn't want this to be any more hostile than it already has been. She didn't want to fight. She was tired of fighting. "I don't think Yelena is a threat Natasha." Aspen tells Nat.
"You just know how Bucky and Steve are overprotective." Aspen adds, because Nat knew that, as well as Aspen did. Aspen knew that was the one thing if anything Natasha would understand about the situation.
Yelena senses the uncomfortableness of it all and the awkwardness in the room. She looks at Aspen and Natasha and shrugs. "I cannot have a Bucky." Yelena says. "But can I have a Tony?" She asks. Nat and Aspen look to Yelena shocked, not expecting to hear this from her, even Bucky tilts his head in confusion.
"No not Tony." Nat answers quickly. "You can have a Sam." Aspen adds with a little laugh, glancing at Bucky who also tries to hold in his laughter. Yelena picks up on it though and she shakes her head. "I don't think I want a Sam." Yelena says.
Nat rolls her eyes at her sister and looks over to Aspen. She was tired of the small talk and jokes and wanted to get to it already. "Why are you here Aspen?" Natasha asks her. Aspen answers honestly, there being no need to lie.
"To check on you and Yelena." Aspen tells her. "Really?" Nat asks. "Why else would I be here?" Aspen asks her. "I don't know." Nat says. "I thought you'd be mad because I didn't tell you I had a sister." Nat tells her. "Or because she kidnapped you." She adds in a lower voice. "Are you kidding?" Aspen asks. "I get why she did it." She tells Natasha. "I'm not mad." She says.
