Aspen was flabbergasted. She had no idea what the hell was going on. Even though Yelena was trying to explain it. Yelena just wanted to see Nat. That's all. She got Bucky and Steve and the entire team worried for nothing. She had Bucky scared out of his mind. And she didn't even know who Aspen was. Or Bucky. Or really anyone else on the team. Except Nat.
Her sole concern was Bucky and Steve. She knew they were crying, they thought she was going to die. It wasn't fair to them. It wasn't fair to her. She thought she would never see her boyfriend or her brother ever again. It was fair. She knew Yelena just wanted to see Nat but there were other ways to go about it.
She knew she didn't know Yelena's story. It wasn't fair to judge her, but it also wasn't fair to be kidnapped and made to say goodbye to your loved ones when nothing was going to happen to you. She wanted to give Yelena the benefit of the doubt, it was in her nature, but it was really, really, hard for her right now.
She didn't know what Yelena had been through. She didn't know why she couldn't contact Nat. She had no idea. So she tried to keep as open mind as she possibly could. She took a deep breath and reminded herself that although Yelena said she wasn't going to kill her, she didn't know her and she very well could end her life.
"What's a Bucky?" Yelena asked Aspen. Again. Aspen took a deep breath. A Bucky was the love of her life. Her soulmate. He may as well be her actual soul. She would die without him. And him without her. A Bucky was the most beautiful person in the entire world and a Bucky didn't deserve all of the hair that had happened to him. She thought about her Bucky when she was trying to stay calm.
"He's the one you made me say goodbye to, as if I was going to die." Aspen tells Yelena. Sounding a bit more snarky than she would have liked. Yelena shrugs and starts to make herself a bowl of macaroni. "Well they're coming to you now. So is my sister. My mission was accomplished." Yelena tells Aspen.
Aspen shakes her head. There was more to it than that. It didn't matter if they were on their way and would find her alive soon, they were terrified out of their minds right now that they wouldn't find her alive. They didn't know what Aspen and Yelena knew. It was wrong and it was unfair and it was killing Aspen.
She didn't understand why Yelena couldn't just walk up to the door of the compound, knock, and ask for Natasha. She could have just walked into the party. There were so many people there, she could have easily just have walked right in the door. It's not like Tony cared who came into his parties. He didn't ID people. There was no guest list, unless it was a personal-more personal than finding out he had a long lost aunt- party.
There was no need for all of this. Not that she knew of anyway. Again, minding her tongue, and her life, that Was in Yelena's hands, she tried to stay calm and not sound smart and rude. She wanted to try and be chill about the completely insane situation she was in. She thought about Bucky. For the millionth time. At least. She chose her words wisely.
"Look I don't know you, and you have the power to end my life, but you could have just walked Into the party." Aspen tells Yelena. She was a bit scared for Yelena's response. Thought she did have to admit, Yelena did seem like a very calm, cool, and collected person. Despite kidnapping Aspen and making her say goodbye to her loved ones.
Yelena laughs at the idea of this. She scoffs, and shakes her head. "I could not have." Yelena says, still laughing. "You can't walk into a party you are not invited to." Yelena says. Clearly she has not been to a party of Tony Stark's before. Otherwise she would have just walked right in like she owned the place.
"God. You...you have no idea about anything, do you?" Aspen asks Yelena. Yelena bursts out laughing. Aspen just looks at her, waiting for this hilarious moment Yelena was having to pass because Aspen had no idea what was going on. So she waited, but Yelena continued to laugh as she spoke. The situation was ridiculous. Insanely ridiculous.
"Yes I realized my plan is a bit stupid now." Yelena admits to Aspen. Again Aspen thought about all of the other ways Yelena could have approached this. Why couldn't she call Nat? Or even just knock on the door and look for her? There were so many other ways she could have gone about talking to and finishing Nat other than what was going on right now. And it still stuck in her head that she had no idea Nat had a sister to begin with.
"Why didn't you just reach out to Nat? And I didn't even know she had a sister." Aspen tells Yelena. "We'll I think she thinks I'm dead and I didn't know if this stark would let me see her." Yelena explains to Aspen. "It's not a cult, We can do and see whatever or whoever we want." Aspen tells Yelena.
"We'll I wish I would have known this before." Yelena says, chuckling. "Should have done more research into these 'avengers'." Yelena says. "Can you just let me go and we save them the trouble and just go back?" Aspen asks Yelena. Worried about Bucky and Steve. She didn't want them to worry longer than they had too.
"No that's silly. They're already on their way." Yelena says. She had a point. They were already on their way. "Can I At least call Bucky and tell him I'm okay And I'm not going to die." Aspen asks Yelena. "I still don't know what a Bucky is." Yelena tells Aspen.
