The next day, while Aspen is still asleep, Bucky sneaks out of bed. He decided to talk to Steve. He knew that him and Aspen had already talked about it, and she didn't want him to talk to Steve anymore, she wanted to tell Steve together, but Bucky couldn't wait. He wouldn't tell Steve him and Aspen were together, but he would talk to Steve about how he treated Aspen.

He couldn't stand the way he talked to her. He would belittle her. Make her feel small. Bucky felt that he could go to Steve as his best friend and tell him about hers treating his sister and it not be as if he was going to Steve, as if he was talking to him about how he was treating his girlfriend. He would try and separate it and just make it as a best friend talking to him about his sister. Because he knew it wouldn't be fair to Aspen if he told Steve about them when she specifically asked him if they could do it together.

He also didn't want to tell Aspen before he talked to Steve because he knew she would tell him not to. But as her boyfriend and as her best friend, he couldn't let Steve act like this towards her anymore. He couldn't stand it and he couldn't sit around and do nothing. It made him feel useless. It made him go back to hydra. To when she was strapped to a table, being tortured and experimented on and he couldn't help her. And he didn't want to feel like that anymore. And he didn't want her to feel like she was being controlled.

Because Steve telling her what she could and couldn't do constantly, made her feel like she was under hydra's control all over again. And Bucky knew that. And he refused to let her feel that way. He wouldn't allow it. Especially from her brother. Someone who was supposed to protect her and want what was best for her. So he went to his room and he text Steve asking him to come and talk to him. And momentarily, Steve was walking through his bedroom door.

Bucky was sitting on his bed, and Steve stood in the doorway. "You wanted to talk to me?" Steve asks. Bucky looks up at Steve as Steve starts walking towards him. "Yea, it's about Aspen." Bucky tells him. And he realized he probably shouldn't have started it out like that, immediately bring up Aspen. But it was already said, so he had to go from there.

"Of course it is." Steve says. "she doesn't know I'm here. I told her I wouldn't talk to you without her. But..." he started, but he cut himself off. He wanted to make sure Steve knew Aspen wasn't telling Bucky to talk to Steve about this for her. "Get to the point Bucky." Steve says. Bucky is taken aback by the way Steve bluntly tells him to get to the point. He never talks to Bucky like that. And he knew the only reason he was now was because the conversation was about Aspen, but that was no excuse.

Bucky decided he wasn't going to play nice anymore. Because he felt at this point, Steve needed someone to tell him about himself. "listen, I came to you as your
best friend. I was trying to be nice, Despite the fact that you've been treating Aspen like shit." Bucky starts. Despite Steve's attitude, He sits next to Bucky on his bed. "I get it, family is hard, But she is your sister. You're supposed To want her to be happy and Protect her, and you just yell At her and try to control her." Bucky tells him.

"you don't get to talk to me about my sister. She's not innocent. Do you Even know why we're fighting?" Steve says, and asks Bucky. Bucky shakes his head in disbelief at how thick headed Steve was being. And then he looks back at him. "yea, you keep telling her im off limits. She asked you, what if it makes her happy? What if it makes me happy?" Bucky says. "you don't care. All you care about is yourself. You just don't want to be the third wheel. You don't want to be alone." Bucky says.

He was steadily raising his voice. He was fed up. As anyone in this situation would be. "How would you know that?" Steve asks Bucky. "What if I had a deeper reason?" He asks. He looks at Bucky and Bucky looks back, their eyes piercing each other. If looks could kill, they'd both be dead. Mostly Steve. Because Bucky was looking harder. Pure rage rising through him at this point. " would love to hear it. Please. This isn't about me. This isn't about me wanting to be with Aspen or her wanting to be with me." Bucky says.

He still didn't want to give away the fact that they were in fact together because that wouldn't be fair to Aspen. Especially since she specifically told him that she wanted them to tell Steve together. "it's about how you need to treat your sister better. She loves you. And all you do is yell at her." Bucky says. "No I don't." Steve says. Everything Bucky was saying was going in one ear and out the other.

"yes you do. You make her feel small. You try to control her." Bucky says. Raising his voice more. "you put her back in that dark place, You bring her back to hydra. And you're going to stop." Bucky says. "really buck? You're choosing her over me?" Steve asks him. "I'm not picking sides. Steve you're my best friend. But so is Aspen." Bucky tells him. "if she were in the wrong it'd be different, but you're treating her like shit for no reason. And it stops now." Bucky says sternly.

He wasn't going to stand by anymore and let Steve talk to Aspen the way he was. "Are you two together or not?" Steve asks. Once again, completely in one ear and out the other. Completely missing the point. "I don't know Steve. Are we?" Bucky asks. And he walks out of his room, leaving Steve in there alone. And he goes back to Aspen.
