"Hi carolyn, can I talk to you? Derek's not here, is he?" I ask. "Yes of course, come in" she says. We walk to the living room.
"Hi mer!" Amelia smiles, throwing her toy onto the floor and running over to me. I pick her up. "Hi sweetie" I sit her on my lap as I sit on the couch.
I wrap my arms around her small waist, resting my chin on her head. She giggles. I smile.
"So, what's up?" Carol sits next to me, passing me a coffee. "Thanks" I put it on the table. I look at her.
"Um, this is a bit weird for me.. Derek's kinda my friend and you're my friend" I say. "And amy fwiend" amelia says. "And amelias my friend" i chuckle.
"But as his teacher, I feel like I need to tell you" I say. "Is something wrong?" She asks. "Nothing too major.. but Derek's failing most of his classes" I say.
"What? He told me he's been doing well" she says. "I know, but the principle wanted one of the teachers to have a talk with you, so I volunteered" I say.
"Hes doing really well in my class.. all A's, but I don't think he's focusing as much in his other classes" I say. She sighs. "Other than gym.. because of football" I say.
"Is there anything that you think I can do to help him with school?" She asks. "Oh course, yes" I nod.
"I actually made him a study plan" I grab my bag, pulling out the sheet of paper. "So, if he just studies for two hours a day, rotating around the different subjects then he should catch up in no time" I say.
"And maybe he'd get a study partner.. a few students at school volunteer to be them.. these are their numbers" I pass her the paper.
"And I'd definitely help him with his work if he wants" I say. "I help too" amelia says. "You can help me with my work" I pick her up, standing her on my lap.
"Weally?" She asks. "Yep, you wanna watch romeo and juliet with me today?" I ask. She nods enthusiastically. "Is that okay with your mommy?" I ask. She looks at Carol. "Of course" she smiles.
"Um, you won't tell derek that I said that, will you? I really don't want him to be mad at me.. I think the only reason he listens in my class is because we're friends" I chuckle.
"I'd never tell him.. thankyou for telling me though" she says. "Yes, of course" I say.
"You don't tell him either" I tap amelias nose playfully. "Tell who what?" She asks. I chuckle.
"Should we watch the romeo and juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio in it?" I ask. "Huh?" She asks. "The correct answer is yes" I whisper. "Yes" she says. I giggle.
"Can I take her with me?" I ask. "Yes" Carol says. "Can I keep her?" I grin. "Ummm.. no" she says. I giggle. "Oh, pwease mommy" amelia says. She laughs.
"What? You'd rather have meredith be your mommy than me?" She asks. "Mhm" she nods. She chuckles. "You can have her" she says. I laugh.
She goes to the kitchen. "Let go Now?" She asks. "Go and tell your mommy that you love her before we go" I chuckle softly, feeling bad after what she just said.
She goes to the kitchen. "I wove you mommy" I hear her say. "Oh, I love you too sweetheart" she says. "Bye bye" she says. "Bye bye, have fun with meredith" she says.
She walks back over to me. I hold her hand. We go out. "Oh, hi" I say as we bump into derek. "Hi" he smiles. "Dewek" amelia hugs his legs.
"Are you kidnapping my sister?" He picks her up. "Yes" I giggle. "Ugh! You smelly" amelia makes a face. "I was at football practice" he chuckles. He looks hot in his kit. So so hot.
"Come here, let's get you away from Mr stinky" I take her. She nods. "Bye bye dewek" she says. "Bye bye derek? Where are you going?" He chuckles.
"We're going to watch romeo and juliet" I say. "Oh, because you can't be bothered reading it?" He grins. "Shut up.. and um yeah" I giggle. He chuckles.
"I'll see you later" he says to amelia. "And I'll definitely see you later" he whispers huskily in my ear. I giggle. He goes inside. We go to my house.
