CHAPTER 83

"Cause and Effect"

 

LUCAS' POV

I knew this thing would happen. Dapat may ginawa ako nung nakita kong kausap ni Katherine si Matthew, I just feel that she'll do something again. Lagi na lang. Nakakainis!

Nung nakita ko siya sa ancestral house, I knew that she'll do no good. It feels like nagkabaliktad ang lahat, it's her threatening our business.

Inilabas na sa hall sina Logan at Matthew, the girls are consoling Bianca. I just can feel the bad air between my friends. Alam kong si Katherine ang may pakana ng lahat. I just hate this. Lahat halos gulat na gulat sa nangyari, thanks to her friend at napatigil sila sa pagsusuntukan kanina. I don't know how it started but I guess it's all about male ego.

I don't want to step back, just because she's the key to our business doesn't mean she can do things her way.

Papalapit na ako sa kanya when I felt someone tugging me on my arms. Napalingon naman ako at nakita si Sophie na umiiling sa akin. Wala na akong nagawa kundi sumama sa kanya.

Unti-unti ng dumami ang tao sa loob ng hall. Pumunta siya sa gilid ng chocolate fountain before facing me. "Don't think about doing it." She said. Napangisi ako sa sinabi niya, why would I adjust?

"She ruined us, look at them. Look at my friends, simula nung dumating siya nagulo na kami." Hindi ko maiwasang mainis sa kanya, she's just saying that because she doesn't know anything.

"Yes, and I am trying my best to stop her. But please don't forget that before she ruined you, you ruined her first." Napalingon ako sa kanya at gustung-gusto ko na siyang singhalan pero bumalik sa isip ko yung mga pagkakataon na pinahirapan namin siya. Lalong-lalo na nung araw na huli namin siyang nakita. Napatahimik ako sandali, but is that an enough reason to cause chaos? No, I don't think so.

"What she's doing is so childish." Napalingon ako sa kanya pero tipid na ngiti lang ang isinagot niya sa akin kaya naman nagpatuloy ako. "She's the cause of all this now, hindi kami."

"You can say that because you were never the aggrieved party. And this will never be the cause Lucas, this is the effect. You reap what you sow. And you sow anger in her heart, and that is what you will reap." Ngumiti siya sa akin and I tried not to show any emotion. Ayokong makita niyang naapektuhan ako sa sinasabi niya.

"You know what? Minsan isang 'sorry' lang, yung sincere can cure the misunderstanding or conflict. Pero masyado kayong mataas, you might see her a strong girl pero deep inside her, she's broken." Napatawa ako sa sinabi niya, bumalik ang tingin ko kay Katherine, nakangiti siya habang nakikipagkwentuhan, and that is what you call broken.

"Humor me." Kumuha ako ng juice at uminom mula rito, buti na lang at na-restore ang ayos ng party although usapan pa rin ng ilan ang nangyari.

"We, people have different ways to defend ourselves. And that is her way, kailangang makita ng lahat na malakas ka in order not to be picked on. She's afraid that things might happen to her again. Minsan, hindi ko siya masisi, trust me, she's ready to forgive, all you need to do is sincerely apologize to her." Nakangiti niyang sabi sa akin.

Tuluyan na akong nawalan ng sasabihin. Hindi ko alam kung may dapat pa ba akong sabihin. I know what she's saying is true. I realize it now, that this is not the cause, this is the effect. Napabuntong-hininga ako. Ngayon ko lang naramdaman ang konsensya sa mga nangyari at ginawa ko.

"By the way, I'm Sophie Evangelista." Napalingon ako sa kanya. Nakita kong nakalahad na ang kamay niya sa akin, napatawa naman ako at tinanggap iyon. "I'm Lucas Steffan." Nakangiti kong pagpapakilala sa kanya.

"Omo! Are you the son of tbe Steffan Empire?" Napatawa ako dahil halatang nagkukunyarilang siyang gulat sa sinabi ko pero sinakyan ko lang siya.

"What? You're impress?" Tumangu-tango lang siya like a fanatic, lalo akong natawa.

"Ayan, tumatawa ka na. Chill ka lang, men. Hindi pa magugunaw ang mundo, at kung magugunaw man, atleast, the last thing you did is smile and laugh." Napatingin ako sa kanya at sa ngiti niya. Napangiti ako. She's totally different from Alexa, she's too rough at masyadong maangas kumilos. Masyadong mayabang ang dating but I found her funny.

I was really surprised to see her play the guitar in a very awesome way nung Battle of the Bands.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"My jokes are the cause..." She said. Ngumiti ako at tinapos ang sinabi niya, "...and me smiling is the effect."

"Don't worry, I'll tell them what you said. I really wanted to end this. Who wants war anyway?" I said, ngiti lamang ang sinagot niya sa sinabi ko.
